Just to clarify... Musicians make the dual wave synthesizer. Novice, I believe, has that schematic.
And the Power Core Unit is a schematic available at 0/0/0/1 Architect.
Ah, power droids. I made one for a friend who wanted a Food/Chem crafting station. I figured it would be perfect since it looks a bit like a Barbeque. He loved it, and he gets a lot of positive comments on it when he brings it out in public. He named it Hibatchi (sp?).

Power Droids right now are useless. I took up architect to make power cores (just up to houses 1). Did a factory run of 200 of them. Then droppedarchitect. This was back in november. I still have 198 of them. Yep I have made 2 power droids in 6 months. 1 was an order, the other I built for fun and put on vendor (it sold after a month or so).
As for duel wave synthesizers. Try and find a Musician who you can give resources to who will make a schmatic for you (make sure you have lots of these on hand). Then do a factory run of 150 of so. They should last a few months.
Have you made armor 6? Requires panels from Armorsmiths, always has as long as I can remember. Since these are the only 3 items we cant make if we dont have master Artisan, it's not too heavy a burden to find them.
The economy on my server is so f***** up right now that I can sell power droids as 10 item storage droids for those snotty rich types 
. 50k for a friggin 10 item storage droid?!? Mind you, I didn't advertise them as such but a small group of (what I can only assume to be millionaires) approached me with the idea. 20 power cores later....
Finding a novice musician to make the schem for you is not too hard either if you're guilded. If not, you can find them everywhere and give them a couple of bucks to do it and most people I have asked have been really eager to oblige.

All the high end crafting professions have SOME dependence on others. No place to be complaining about that.
The need for power cores and synthesizers from architect and musician is not that big of a deal because you really only need to seek out the parts occassionally. the power droids almost never sell. i've had 3 on my vendor since forever and I've only sold 1 of them. get a dozen power cores from an architect and they'll last you forever.
for the synthesizers, what I did was find a musician, give them samples of my resources and have them craft a schematic for me. I then ran the schematic through the factory and now have 1000 crated playback modules in storage. that's more than I think I will ever need... 
getting a musician to make you a schematic shouldn't be so hard. offer them a free maxed out entertainer droid as payment. that's what I did. just make sure you get the requirments to make th synthesizer from the musician first and then make sure you have enough extra resources on hand to make maximum use of the manufacturing schematic they give you.
I'd suggest getting a manufacturing schematic for the power cores as well, but the resource requirements for the power cores are pretty steep. and power cores are so rarely useful, it probably isn't worth it.
