well its a nice implementation for newbies, BUT

why the heck an R2??? why not a mouse just? i mean every star wars fan want to own an R2 and now they get it free.

sure they cant do anything much but its an R2 :/

so the concern is only everybody who wish just to own a R2 can have it free and wil not buy from us DEs

but well

But veers, it doesnt DO anything (kind of like our droids a few months back) I'm not even sure you can paint it another color. There is no way to get rid of the (helper droid) tag. Its just a prop item.

I think that they are a great way to take new players some extra steps beyond the initial tutorial. They get you started with using some of the basic skills of scouting or medic or whatever. The fact that this intro is packaged in an R2 is cute and helps the new player feel more "starwarsie". I don't see that they detract from the DE profession at all.

If anything, they will likely make good 'freebies' that will lead to some DEs seeing sales later, when that players gets their feet under them.

They are like a 'test drive'.

I wish they could make our astromechs /say beep, tweedle, click, etc when we give them commands. I also think droids would be good NPC quest givers, too.

Now all we have to do is get the devs to give everyone a free R3 with modules according to their profession(s) for a week, then take them away... I think that would be very good for business. Nothing like temporary freebies to get people hooked on something.

Thanks for the input. The intro droidsare good idea - -I just was an little taken off guard.Like I said before, I like that fact that you see more droids around in the game; it makes it feel more Starwarcy.

Now if they could only fix the naming bug, but that has been on the list for a long time

I noticed a lot people on my server (Ahazi) with R2 units (with R2 numbered names no less). I was shocked when told that these droids are now given away when you do a notice profession....what?!

I three questions I would like answered:

1. Whatare the devsreasoning behind this?

2. What can these R2 units actually do?

3.Since these R2's can have letters w/ number names, is thenaming bug going to be fixed soon?

Overall, I like seeing more droids around, however I don't want this to take away from the game's droid engineers. I don't thinks it will really impact my sales, but it's not helping them either.

I would like to hear other droid engineers' opinions of this issue - good or bad.

Thanks

I think it has do do with the new player experience. I think they are pretty cool. Although I have no idea what they actually do. I might have to make another character on another server to find out.

They don't do anything we can do. In fact, they only serve as instruction in the world about missions and how to perform tasks related to your profession. This would have been a real timesaver back in september.

It is part of the new player experience. You'll get one everytime you learn a novice beginner skill, you don't need to make a whole new character.

Don't worry, they don't do anything except annoy you. Other than that, there's no functionality to them whatsoever.
