The damage rating on your Droid is directly related to how good your combat modules are. Plus Probots get a combat bonus.
So to put it simple, the better your resources, the better your Combat Droid.

When you click on the module you want to craft, before entering the menu where you have to click on the ressources, look at the description of the module. It will tell you what is important in ressources stats that will affect the end result.
By heart if I remember well, Combat Modules only needed Overall Quality, but I THINK it might also need Shock Resistance, I could be wrong.
But hey, if you want my opinion, if you want to sell a lot of Combat Droids, get the best possible ressources as you can!
Most people will get Combat Module ratings of 100 or less... *I* actually manage to get 101 Rating!!! All because I only buy or harvest 900+ Overall Quality ressources.

I'm almost certain it's 50% Conductivity and 50% Overall Quality that matter most for droid combat modules.
The metal needed is 5 of any type of metal, and 35 non-ferrous metal.
Luckily I dug up some 900+ Conductivity and OQ Unknown Non-Ferrous metal on Lok last week
Should make some decent combat modules, I think.

2 ways
1 - Experiment on the Droid Combat module and use good quality resources. This will max out the Combat module as much as possible.
2 - Put as many Combat Modules in as possible. The best damage (and I mean dealing damage, not tanking)combat droids are (and this will fire up a huge debate) Advanced Probot with 5 Combat Modules, they do a lot of damage and have a great fire rate, and the Advanced R3 with 6 combat modules, does good damage, slow fire rate, but has a great HAM 4500 or so to make up for it.
Once you have created a combat module, nothing will improve it's performance, not experimenting on the cluster, or the droid itself. So make sure you do a lot of experimenting on the module itself, and use good resources.
When you come to experiment on the final droid, stick to effectiveness, that is what increases its HAM, the others have no discernable improvement.
Hope this helps
