I tend to hear the desire for loot items to increase standard functionality ratings (I share this desire), however I haven't really heard anyone ask why droids aren't slicable. To me droids are equipment, not pets like the Devs have treated them to this point. I hate the fact that the naming and command structure is the exact same as creature pets. Bottomline is that DE's need some type of additional factors added into craftables to have something that isn't just standard. Creature Pets have Bio engineer profession to do this - - us DE's are left with nothing for droids atm.
Its just an idea (I'm sure its not original) but it would give something fresh to the profession. Heck, I don't care if these droids would suffer Stormtropper attacks due to the imperial band on slicing - this would be an additional form of entertainment for me to watch
I would like to hear everyone's original on the slicing issue.

I think there could be some danger in letting certain modules be sliced. For example giving extra item storage etc.
However I see no reason whatsoever to not allow slicing of combat modules, after all a weapon can be sliced so it can't exactly be called unbalancing.
The slicing could be done either before or after being built into a droid. Before would be my preference as each module would have to be sliced individually and therefore you couldn't do factory runs of sliced droids.
It would add a layer of extra ability to the droids without the DE needing to do anything except talk to another human being (shock horror) in order to get the modules sliced, and would give much needed work to slicers.
A semi thumbs up for this idea, depending on restrictions

NICE! This is a cool idea that I don't think I have heard before. We have talked a lot about slicing modules for droids that give the droids slicing abilities (like R2-D2 did in the movies) but it never occured to me to slice the droids themselves. Good Idea.

I'm all for droids being sliceable, could add some nice variety/strength to droids. I am however strongly against loot components. In my opinion, this has ruined a lot of the other crafting professions, with it becoming who can find the Uber lewt! Quested schematics are cool (so long as they don't require combat to get crafting things...) and schematic loot drops aren't as bad as actual components... but loot components are just a bad idea.

Two words about loot components. DEAD JAWAS. ![]()
Actually, quest schematics could be put in with the crafter quests that are supposed to be coming out soon. NPC Jawa, which are all over Tatooine, could be involved in the quest for DE loot. The quest could be nothing more than having to track down 5 different Jawa on the planet, and delievering something to them.
Loot drops, from combat, wouldn't be that bad if it was added to specific NPCs such as Jawas. Anyone with the ability to pick up a weapon can kill a Jawa and Jawa tend to pop up pretty much everywhere on Tat. It wouldn't be that difficult for the DEVs to tweak the drop rate, like they did for Locked Containers and Crystals, so that the items could easily be found.

Actually, we could use this in our Decay system....
Slice a Droid and he doesn't burn power as fast. However, he does decay faster. There should be a good side and a bad side.
