Thread: Anyone intersted in starting a revolution?

I been seeing threads for over a year on changes that need to be made to improve DE. As far as I can tell everything that everyone has said has fallen on deaf (SOE) ears.

I know some people would view this as whining but I've beena DE for over a year. I keep hearing that changes are coming that will make it worth while. It hasn't happened. But moreover, I think the SOE has missed one of their own prime directives. And that is that the SWG is to be a player driven economy. Aside from the fact that droids are limited in useful functionality within the game, they don't have draw that would cause the typical player to purchase them. Way back when CH was uber (and droids didn't do anything -- oh wait... nothing has changed in that regard) a nerf was put in place to cut back on the ability to handle more than one pet at a time. DE was a recipient of this nerf even though you couldn't damage a baby womp rat with a supposed combat Probot. Then, instead of driving the GCW into high gear (I still remember with fondness the initial battles that used to take place in the battlefields when the game was new -- good time those) and giving droids some power to assist in the battle SOE nerf's the Imp and Rebel ranks so you couldn't go past Colonel and the GCW died. Now, with JTL you would have thought that droids would finally come into their own and provide DE's with a small portion of the hugh player ecomony (don't even get me started on how much Weaponsmiths and Armorsmiths have made in this game), droids are left as an afterthought. And what little funtionality they do provide is so minimal that the typical player can effect a complete bypass of the DE professionignore the need for an Astromech altogether since the "commands" that can be programmed into chipsare laughable at best.

The bottom line is that SOE is watering down the "system" of this game in a manner thatwas intended to create a balanced playing experience for everyone but more simply creates a drab environment that doesn't excite most true gamers. No wonder so many players have left the game over the last eight months and more are leaving every day for more exciting quests. You know why lots of kids like X-Box? Cause the games are hard to master. Not so with SWG.

SOE (or maybe Lucas Arts) needs to step up to the plate and make this game what everyone thought it was going to be. Life isn't fair. This game shouldn't be fair either. It should be something that provides a challenge, some excitement because you don't know what will be around the next hill, and an occasional thrill because you can sometimes, if you are very lucky, find (or create) something unique and worthwhileenhances you enjoyment of the game. Otherwise, a couple of years down the road SWG will be gone (Those of you who are laughing shouldn't.I predicted the demise of DIVX two weeks after it hit the streets).

So what's the point? Not sure if there is one. I would suggest changes but I believe 1) most have already been discussed and 2) SOE won't do anything about it. I would start a thread to get the DE community hopping mad about the situation in hopes that SOE would listen but I don't think they are really doing that either. I could quit but, hey, what purpose would that serve? So, what do we do? What can we do?

Anyone got any suggestions on how to start a revolution?

You do know that Droids got 2 publishes right? Two whole publishes. That is far more then any other profession has gotten.

Don't get me wrong, I get as upset as anybody, lol check out my posts here, I am hardly a SOE brown-noser

I just think you are being very unfair by acting like we havn't gotten anything at all. Yes we still have a ways to go, but we are far better then where we started.

Heck, almost every profession can say they're broken and need an overhaul. Yes, there are a host of issues that badly need addressing for the DE profession, but DE is in a much better position than they were last year. Drashk is making excellent progress in ironing out what the DE community truly needs and making sure it gets the exposure to SOE it deserves. SOE has a priority list, and we have to do the best we can to get as high up on that list as possible; throwing tantrums will get dutifully ignored.

I must admit that I am tempted to re grind de. I gave up shortly after the nerfed the prob bot and the mission bot. There does seem to be some more usefullness in the de profession than the medic mse droids i remember. But I in no ways gain anything in the combat professions by owning a droid. Soe has nerfed everything surrounding droids so that droids are unnecessary to the professions. Droids are still just a convenience as far as i can tell. Droids need to become a requirement for each profession to function.

Crafting profshouldbe required to have a droid analyse their schematics before they are created.

JTL should require astro droidsto perform repairs on ships

Docs should be required to have droids to perform buffs

Entertainers should be required to have droids to perform buffs

Harversters should require Droids be assigned to them

Buildings should require droids be assigned to them

All players should be required to have droids to keep there data

All players should be required to have droids to provide the waypoint information necessary to get to locations and view the planet maps

There should be a transport droid module which allows for picking up goods from vendors and dropping them off

There should be a bazaar droid module to allow access to the public bazzar

All players should be required to have droids to Translate communications with NPC's

finally a droidika should be an even match for a master jedi.

I also think there should be a droid mastering profession similar to the pilot profession which goverens the number and type of droids which can be utilized by players. This droid master profession like the pilot profession should not require skill points.

First a droid has to be able to do something. Thenpeople also need tolearn how to make droids do things.
