Thread: some changes to droids

i think the devs should build in some sort of decay system on droids. right now DEs only get one-time customers. of all the crafting professions DEs get the least business because almost all droids last FOREVER. Droids should hav a condition that goes down with every call. there should be droid repair kits just like there are armor and weapon repair kits. once the condition is zero the droids functions o longer work. i could see how this would be a problem with storage droids, but i hav found a way around it. once the condition reaches zero, u would only be allowed o withdraw from the droid, not deposit. this ensures that people wont lose their items. with these changes, once the max condition of the droid it too low, people would hav to buy a new one. when the condition is low, an email should be sent saying that the droid's condition is below 50%,, 43% etc., just like with harvesters and other structures.
does anyone else think this is a good idea?

In a galaxy where building a Death Star capable of destroying worlds is a reality, a droid able to last a few deacades should also be. R2-D2 and C3-PO where first introduced in Episode 1 and are still going thhru the New Jedi Order series. A time span of 40-50 years! How ever as a Master DE some system of keeping customers coming back would be nice. I lkie the idea of condition and decay but not so far as to make your droid unusable. Maybe instead when it hits zero you need to take it to a Master DE for an upgrade or over haul. Make this process repeatable indefinitely and what about droids being able to be changed by Master DE's? May be you can turn that harvest droid into a combat droid or un happy with your 300 combat rated droid? Then take it to a Master DE who can put in the modules to make it a 600! Just a few little ideas which would keep DE's busy and supplied with other side jobs still releated to their main career. Just my thoughts on this matter.
