I've started working on a DE order tool on my spare time, writing it in VB.

And I would like some ideas for integrated features, those I have on my list now are:

Choosing a Droid Chassis.

Choosing Modules for that Chassis.

Template Droids (a sort of standard droid collection like: Tank droids, Doc droids etc).

Droid Accessories.

Mailing system (sending a mail to the DE in question, alternative creating an easily understood output text that can be in-game mailed to the DE of choice).

So, if you got any ideas for Templates, functions etc feel free to post here.

Ppl have done order tools in the past. The biggest failure involved in them is that they allow ppl to build invalid configurations. Such as try and load up an R3 ADV with all Level 6 Item Storage modules, not realizing its capped at 10 items maximum. Or try and put more than one Level 3 Structure Maintenance module in not realizing structure maintenance modules dont stack. Also trying to put an Item Storage module into an Surgical Droid not realizing its bugged and wont work. To be successful, your tool will have to account for all those kind of gotca's.

Last I saw, undeadfish was dead, and the owner was spending time on other things. I was hoping they would make the web-based order system available to those who wanted it, but I didn't get a response. It really is a decent system too.

It seems your best bet is to make it PhP based, so customers can go to the DE's web page and fill in what they want, and paste the text into an in-game email. Or maybe the web form will email the owners personal email account and the owner print out a list. But I'd rather get emails in-game that out.

There are a few good configurators around, but a public-access order tool (web access) is what is missing.

www.undeadfish.com/droids.php does exactly what you're trying to build sans the "packages". Does an ok job calling out conflicts.

Undeadfish is dead, but the configurator's still online. Nice tool really, I use it for pricing, in a general fashion.
