I had to share this with you guys.

Tonight I had a lovely young master dancer buy a seeker droid off the bazaar by mistake, and when I had her return it to me for a refund I offered to build a different droid for her that she could use. She said "ok. Which droid is the most fun?" and "I need a droid with some personality" and I didn't know what to tell her! As far as I've been able to figure out droids aren't fun.. they are built to serve a purpose, or built for practice in "The Grind". I had no idea what to tell her. I asked her about medical skills and that I could make one that would allow her to use medical skills outside of camps, med centers adn houses, but she didn't seem too thrilled. She just kept asking me for one that did something "fun".

So I went through the droids I had on hand so I could show some examples, and with each one she asked me "so what does this one do?" to which I could only reply with a "well, it depends on the modules installed. The developers made it sop that most droids are pretty much defined by what module gets built into it". After seeing several of my droids, and my apparent lack of the word "fun" in my vocabulary, she said she needed to think about it and that she'd like me to let her know when I can build some cool droids. Needless to say I didn't make a sale.

So has this happened to anyone else? I mean, this has pointed out a major flaw in the entire design of our profession to me. Now I know you're all saying "we've known for a long time things were fubared, what's new?!", but think about it for a second. "Do you have any 'FUN' droids?" I have no idea! As far as I've been able to see, our droids are pretty much variations on the MSE with differnt cosmetics, and they just kind of sit there. With CH pets at least you can /play with them. Droids don't even have any kind of option near to that!

All other bugs aside, my friends, we need to impress upon whoever will listen that the only thing that can make our profession truly worth having, is to make it "FUN" to be a DE, and "FUN" to own a droid at all! Right now, I'm still trying to figure out what could possibly be considered a "fun" droid, but nothing is coming to me.

Please put your thoughts in this thread. I need to know I'm not crazy, and I hope we can get someone's attention. I have no constructive suggestions, unfortuantely, but I love my profession, and my faith has been greatly shaken tonight.

I think a droid that lets out some gas every so often then says stuff like "I didn't do it!" would be really funny. The gas-letting would have to have a cool sound. Also, droid tricks would be really sweet, and coloring the droids would make them more fun.

The most "fun" you could probably have with a droid now is making a protocol droid and putting the prissy chip in it, though I don't even know what kind of stuff the prissy chip makes it say.

Yeah, our droids aren't fun, they are at best cool.

Let's have fun droid personalities, but let's leave the gas jokes to Episode I, please.

The most fun you can have with a droid is to release it and then shoot it dead! It is fun and satisfying... The mouse droids have a cool death animation and they flip over on their sides... Don't know if this fun activity has been "Fixed" yet but it is great fun! make her like 12-mouse droids and a blaster... It can be part of her act in the cantina!

When I think of droids, i think "useful". When I think of pets, i think "fun". When I first started playing this game, and getting into the surveying, harvesters and resource collecting/selling, I thought for sure that there must exist a droid which could handle some aspect of that process. I thought there must be some mechanism by which I can reduce the amount of time it takes for me to manage my harvesters, and concluded that the obvious solution was a droid. "Cool, I'll be a Droid Engineer". Of course sales would increase, and yeah, it would be cool, but honestly I think we should leave requests for "fun" aside and work on improving "useful".

My probot made some really cool comments as it was getting trashed as i lay there incapped but no one but me could hear them,

i have tried to convers with a lot of droids that refuse to speak. I think that it would be easier to allow eveyone to hear them than not, even if we want them to add this in it should be after they fix the rest of the droid funtions and give us some real combat droids!

umm... i guess you guys didn't realize that Droids can dance? That's fun!

Group your droid

Put your droid in formation (wedge, column)

Start Dancing

Your droid will "get down" and "shake its metal wanger". I've only seen a few droids dance, so I'm not sure which dances the "best". The Mouse droid just kinda wiggles around and beeps, the r5,r4,r3,r2's dance pretty good. They move back and forth and put their leg out and spin. Floating droids (Fugitive tracker and Probot) just kinda swivel a little.

I'd love to see a Binary Load Lifter dance. Or maybe a Power Droid. That'd kick butt.
