Thread: Idea for CH/DE pets
This might be similar to some others but here's what I think...
Here's what I see as a good solution for some of the issues with these two professions. First, both droids and creatures should be treated the same as PC's. Both should be incapped and have the POSSIBILTY of being deathblowed. With that said here's what I'd propose after that.
For droids, being incapped would be similar to R2-D2 being fried by the socket in Cloud City. Not functioning but not enough damage to throw in the scrap heap. If the droid is deathblowed, the owner should have to find a droid engineer to repair it. This gives the DE another source of income. The DE could also act as a "medic" for incapped droids. A droid should regen (or repair) itself slowly but a DE could speed this process up. Players would have to pay for this service or wait for the droid to repair itself, ie. sitting in a hospital with no doctors.
Now, creatures would work in a similar way. Obviously they could be incapped and have the POSSIBILITY of being deathblowed like droids. When incapped, the creature would slowly heal itself but in this case a Bio-engineer would be the one to assist in healing faster (implemented already sort of). Now, if a creature is deathblowed, the Bio-engineer would be involved in a similar way to the DE. When the creature pet dies, a sample of the creatures DNA is stored in your datapad. This sample can be used by a Bio-engineer to create a new pet.
As I see it, this method means that neither droids nor creatures are subject to permadeath but are instead treated in similar ways to PC's. Of course there would need to be other details to this idea but I'm trying to get something started.
I agree for the most part that droids should be fully repairable, just like a weapon...but only a DE should be able to do it effectively.
Maybe a MA could try, but 10% vitality should be lost because they lack droid repair skills.
