i am currently gathering steel and was wondering what stats for steel is important for droids?

Quantity. That is the only thing that makes a blamed bit of real difference.

Heh, so true. I was gonna say none but quantity lets you make extra credits to live on with resource sales.

For certain components, Conductivity and Overall Quality are all that matter. Steel is used fairly frequently in these components, as is a generic "Metal" and sometimes "Ferrous Metal".
For certain other components, Shock Resistance and Unit Toughness are all that matter. These components typically do not require Steel, however.
For a few components, Overall Quality, Shock Resistance, and Unit Toughness all matter. Steel can be used in many of these components, I believe, but may not be strictly required.
At any rate, when your'e talking steel you're looking for Cond and OQ primarily, followed by SR and UT.
