Thread: While we're fixing DE, Can I please make a survey droid?
Survey droids would rock.
So would slicer droids, entertainer droids, harvester droids, vendor droids, delivery droids,factory droids, etc, etc, etc. It's not like we haven't already come up with threads upon threads full of really good ideas that the Devs could use if they'd just let go of this all-combat-all-the-time mentality that they seem to have. Combat droids would be great, too, but they're not the only kind of droid that would be nice to have.

Could it be that the "production" dev team simply doesn't have the "vision" that the original development team/Holocron had?
Over in the artisan thread they're calling for equipment to ease the hassle of surveying. Can we get a survey module? Maybe it's a droid that we release in an area and recover at some time later and inside it are waypoints to all high concentrations of X type of resource (metal, gas, wind, etc) within a 10 km (for discussion sake) radius?
Come on, this won't be hard. We can already make droids that hold waypoints. You can even rename and use the slot of the commands that don't work (like the formation ones) or even just make it part of the 'patrol' feature. OR maybe patrolling is the key. The user sets the search up with waypoints and the droid surveys while it patrols.

I haven't been around long. Go ahead, keep listing all the cool ideas. (That way of you old masters get sick of this and leave, I can at least keep the dream for a while).
There's another post around about entertainer holo-droids.
That would be neat, perhaps if it could even record our speech bubbles. Then we really COULD have a droid play a vid of the princess saying, "Help me Obi-Wan! You're our only hope."
