Thread: n00b crafting questions (not in FAQ)
Using OQ 300 copper, I craft 3 chips. I then craft a droid using those 3 chips, and OQ 900+ resources.

sorry for trying anyone's patience, but here are 2 questions I had that don't seem to be included in any of the guides I've found thus far:
1 - Does the quality of a resource used to craft a component affect the quality of the item that uses that component. ex.
Using OQ 300 copper, I craft 3 chips. I then craft a droid using those 3 chips, and OQ 900+ resources.
Would/Could my finished product be of better quality if I had used OQ 900+ copper in the 3 chips?
Is this the fact with some items, but not others. How far does it stack? (item to create and item to create an item)?
2 - If an itemI'm crafting wants OQ and UT for resource stats, is there a negative result for using a valid resource that has no UT stat? i.e. I use a resource that has 946 OQ, but no UT stat - the OQbar shows as green, but the UT just showssomething like'- x - = %' In this case is it ignoring the UT value, or am I going to get the average with a zero?
thanksin advance.
1) In General: Leveled (level 1-6) modules don't require experimentation to get full effect. All other modules do. Sub components other than modules don't have any noticable effect on the end droid. The only experimentation line that modifies the droid on the end droid is the middle one (Quality) and it modifies the HAM of the end droid.
2) Resources that do not have a stat that is affected on the schematic will not effect the end product. Example: Using Lube Oil in place of a chemical/inorganic fora schematic that has a Unit Toughness modifier will not affect the category which has the UT modifier.

hehe i did a quick look thru the faq part of what your asking is here:
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=droid_engineer&message.id=100096#M100096
also scroll down a bit and read thru the experimetation part, it explains that some components dont need qual and seperates them into a list.
in general most of the time havign low qual subcomps has no effect on another component that uses it...at least i cant remember any in the DE tree, last thing i made that did require high qual suncomps (qual using de subcomps not-withstanding...) it was for WS or Archy via craftstations.
hope that helps
