I had this idea while having a carbineer friend duel my probot.
Wouldn't it be cool to host a player event where combat bots would fight it out?
Having thought it about it, it wouldnt be exciting seeing two Probots going after each other since they will be evenly matched. But what about other combinations of 1 on 1? R2 vs R4 with different modules. Or why stop at 1 vs 1. What about 2 on 1? Or 2 on 2? or 3 vs 3?!?! With multiple droids in the fray, the operators will really have to stragegize to make sure they are working as a team. What if you threw in detonation droids in there as well, where a team would get to use 1 det droid???
Multiple droid fighting would have work in the context of Overt TEFs I suppose since you cant duel two people at once.. Can you????
Im thinking of running tests with my guildies to see what kind of fights would be interesting. Any ideas?
All this could occur in the context of a player city event and would make for excellent advertising. Throw in some wagering (in game credits of course) and you have yourself a good time.
Obviously these ideas are rough but I was curious to see if anyone else had put something like this together. Its not that unique of an idea, but I havent seen anyone do this on my server before.
BTW droid repair kits would of course be on hand to make sure no droid is hurt during the fights

I've run a couple droid events, never done a battlebot event but I have participated in some. The ones that turn out the best are the "royal rumble" style events. Get 3-4 people's droids and have them duke it out. It can get pretty interesting when people try different droid combinations. Teams also work out pretty well.
My favorite event though is MSE bowling. You get a couple BH's/Smugglers together and have a bunch of other people randomly run around a small area (top of a tatooine PA hall worked well for me). Have the BH/Smuggler detonate a mouse droid somewhere and see how many people they can get.

How do you get by the TEF system with multiple droids? Can you duel more than 1 person at a time? I havent tried anything yet but this is conscern I have with multiple droid fights.

Yea, just have to duel multiple people at once. The only problem you run in to is that the duel automatically ends after about 5 minutes if the players don't attack eachother, so you need to keep redueling eachother whenever that happens (or randomly attack, but that gets ugly).

I've done something like this a couple of times, usually right outside a semi-busy starport. It might go over just as well in a very busy one, but could also add to the lag that plagues places like Coronet or Theed.
I'll get a few friends with nothing better to do that day to pull their droids and we do a little tournament thing. I called it Droidal Kombat, but Battlebots works just as well I suppose. People enjoied stopping to watch and I must say it did generate a fair bit of sales. Keep the MDE tag up and people will find you. Apparently watching things you made get blown up makes people want to buy them more -go figure.
For those that buy something off your conviently close vendor (or right from you if you like to walk around with crates of deeds)invite them test out their new droid. What is key here is having repair/recon kits handy so their droids come out looking new and have them battle you and your conviently inferior (but not by much) droid. Sometimes a bit of humility can go a long way for sales.

About a week ago I started working on plans on putting something like this together.
I'm still working out the details on things like prizes and a few rules yet. But definately something I'm looking forward too.
