Wouldnt an Assasin personality chip be useful? Plant one of these things into a droid to turn it into a murderous fiend. 4LOM is a good example. A simple protocol droid programmed to kill. Obviously it wouldnt make powerful killer droids (or maybe it could make decent ones?). Coupled with weapons modules, it could be cool.

Example:

R5 (Adv) Unit using assasin personality.

Put in a crafting station module, a Assasin personality chip and a weapons module.

The droid looks like a standard crafting droid and even works as one, but adding an Assasin personality chip gives him the ability to attack at his default damage (I noticed from my Datapad that even though he cant attack he can do 30-38 damage). A weapons module can give let's say +10 damage (just tossing it out like that, but it could be anything).

This makes droids useful as a little defending buddy (like R2!), and while not as powerful as a Probot, they can still make themselves useful against annoying little mobs that might attack you, as well as your mobile crafting station making them a well rounded useful pet.

Now SOE stated in the past (I dont remember the exact post but I remember mentioning this) that they dont want pets to be combat oriented, they want pets to be something that hangs out with you and does stuff with you. It seems to me that this gives the perfect oportunity to make this a reality.

Alternative: Perhaps all droid could be able to attack with weapons modules, but at a reduced effectiveness. A droid without the "assasin" personality chip could have a -30 to hit. It could also be cool to swap personalities around. Allowing you to customize your droid using personality chips will give the droids a real customfeel, likea probot to look big and scarry but always say "Yes master! Of course master!" because of a worshipful chipor have a protocol droid say things like "You will be destroyed! Death to all!!!" with an assasin chip.

Hmm.... this is an interesting idea. I think I'd rather see actual combat droids with their own set of sinister personality-types. I'm thinking you could probably give a typical droid a combat personality with enough customization points though..

As for non-combat droids having a basic attack, I think it's a feasible option.. Nothing dramatic or uber-powerful. Perhaps enough to keep the little beasties at bay though. I'm reminded of a scene in SW: ROTJ where R2 japs Jabba's nasty little lap-ratwith a tazer of some sort, to keep it from eating 3PO's eye.

That would be ZAPS Jabba's lap-rat.. Gad! Even my fingers get tongue-twisted.

Perhaps if they gave us Ep 1 battle droids they could leave a spot for a personallity chip to fit in. My roommate and I were talking the other day that it would be cool if they had one like HK-47 in KotOR. That would be pointless to have without a droid that can both converse and shoot things, though. I've heard of some of the things that the sarcastic chip would say and I'll have to use that if I ever have the chance for a combat droid that talks. I'd ratherbring out one that sounds cold blooded like HK to fight with me any day.

Yea a tazer would be cool =)

It would be the equivalent of warning shot and scare off animals. Might be good to put a cooldown on it to prevent exploiting (Like once every 2 minuted or something)
