Are they a good replacement for the free standing units?

Are they as good percentage wise?

Can multiple stations be put in a droid?

Do they work if multiples are put in one droid?

All crafting stations are used by range. You can only use the Crafting Station you are closest too, regardless of tool. If you are standing in front of the Clothing station, you cannot access the General Station farther away with the General Tool. It appears to the tool that there are no station in the vacinity.

This odd behavior causes two crafting station modules not to work because both crafting stations are the exact distance away from the crafting tool. It's not really a bug. It's an unfortunante side effect of how they decide what crafting station to use.

As far as the quality, I'm not sure. The top + on a tool is +15. I have heard, but unverified that a top quality (99% efficeincy) private crafting station is +40 but I'm not positive that is correct. As far as droids go, if I crit fail an experiement it goes down to a -10, so I suspect that a top quality crafting station module would be +10. I can assure you that it won't be as high as a private crafting station in your house. It's designed for crafting in the field, not really to replace your household station.

And as I mentioned before, if you have your droid out in your house, it's probably the closer of the two stations, so it will use the lower eff of the droid.
