Thread: Doctor with some Med droid questions.

Hail and well met DE's,
I am a TKM/MD and usually in the front of the fight, but I am still healing the entire group and myself. I know very little about Med droids, or droids in general, but I have heard they are a great help to doctors. I would like to get one of these modern marvels of medicine, but first I need some advice. Here are my requirments, (wish list lol).
(1. I would like a droid that can help me heal and enhance my healing efficiancy.
(2. Can survive a few hits from BIG MEAN mobs, CL80+ mobs, not those lil critters running around Mos Eisley. lol
(3. Can perhaps engage in combat with me when I am solo and NOT run from a fight.
(4. Can heal itself (not sure if this is really necessary).
(5. And has some storage. (You can never have enough storage imo).
Is this configuration possible? If so, did I miss anything important, are there any improvements you could recommend to my requirements? What model would best suit these requirments? And the Biggy...how much wouldsuch a droidcost?
Thank youfor you time.
MacRaee -
1.) Pretty much any droid can have a medical module installed. The top end module gives you about a 10% buff to your medical skills and usage... isn't huge, but it's bonus.
2.)Most of theR series droids, the LE droid and the Probotwith some armor can take a hit or three, but don't expectthem to tank a Gnarled Rancor or anything like that by itself.
3.) Yes, most droids can have combat modules installed which will allow them to engage in combat with you, but again, don't expect a huge impact... most droids are less than CL20, and adding additional ability (such as storage or medical modules) will reduce their combat potential.
4.) Droids get healed 1 of 3 ways... you store them, you use a droid stim, or they have an autorepair module. Storing them has the usual downside of not having their functions available while they're stored, stims are of course, inventory space you have to give up, and autoreapir modules (unless the droid is made primarily with them) are mainly to speed recovery, not a replacement for something like a stim.
5.) Storage is simple, but limited... 10 storage max per droid.
something like this is VERY possible in a number of different droid configurations... your likely best bets would be a R3 with a level 6 Med Module, a level 6 Storage Module, an Autorepair Module, 3 Combat Modules and some armor. That will give you pretty much everything you're looking for as far as ability and recovery. Depending on how fast you want the droid to recover you might a combat module for an additional Autorepair module, but again, that will reduce it's combat ability. Another alternative would be to use a Probe droid instead of the R3 with pretty much the same configuration (minus a combat module) if you'd prefer something other than R droid blasting stuff. However, as you can own upto 5 droids, you might want to drop the storage ability, buy a seperate droid for that, and replace it with an additional combat module to increase the combat ability of your droid, it's all about personal preference.
As far as cost, that's totally dependent on the market on your server... I've seen the configs above go from around 30k to 200k on my server, it all depends on what people are willing to pay. I'm sure if you ask on either your server board or even post your server here one of your local DE's will be happy to help you out.

Much the same information - my only commant would be the number of combat modules needed in the R3 - to give it combat you only need one which means that you can have more auto repair in it.
The extra combat modules would add armour if armour worked - as it stands at the moment the second time you call it armour rating will drop to just over a 1000 anyway no matter how many combat modules you put in.
I agree with CohibaMonCal...
A Droid such as this would be excellent at lvl 30 combat with just one well experimented combat module and lvl 6 armor installed.
An Ideal combo would feature the following modules for a six-slotted R3:
1 droid combat module, 1 Lvl 6 storage module (10 Item Storage), and 4 Auto-Repair modules

If I recall, this won't happen until you have had X number of posts and/or been a forum user for X number of months. One or both of those conditions must be made first.
