Well, after week one of working on MDE, I have to say I am in love with this profession. It's great to see that there is much more to this game than shooting and slashing. The depth of this profession also is a total treat! The money isn't so good, but I am living off old loot I collected as a MPistoleer/MBH, and it shoud tie me over until I start a good cashflow.

I do have a few concerns though, not enough to rethink my profession selection, but enough to start some discussions. First of all, this is not a profession that is relied on as much as it could be. Sure, BHs can't survive w/out our Seekers, but in my opinion that's not really enough.

Armorsmiths and Weaponsmiths obviously have the edge here. Most combatants couldn't even think of entering into combat without using their equipment. All professions can benefit from the product of a tailor, doctor, dancer, musician, DE (can't destroy bases without 'em) or a smuggler.

We have a profession which, in the movies, characters could not survive without. Mr. Skywalker himself needed droids to help in maintenance on his moisture farm. Obviously battle droids were used in nearly all combat earlier in the timeline.

Here is what I propose:

1. Guild Leaders or high faction leveled players could be allowed to place droid armies in different areas of the planet. Not controlled like a pet, just placed like a moving base; used to increase defenses in the GCW. MDE would be used to craft the Droid Army "deed".

2. All cities structures should be maintained by a droid. Basically any structure that is not a house should have some sort of droid assigned to perform maintenance on it (Maybe a smuggler or BH could have the ability to short circuit the maintenance droid, alerting the structure owner; but if not responded to, goes poof - maybe far fetched).

3. Binary lifters are totally under utilized. We should give these huge tanks the ability to deliver resources fromharvestorsto a select resource container or factory, also notifying the owner of the harvestors when the resources are depleted.

I have a few more ideas, but my break is over .

First of all, welcome to the profession!

Secondly, most excellent suggestions. The big problem with the DE class is that it doesn't specifically cater to the combat profession, therefore we are not largely profitable. So if that is going to continue to be our lot in life, then we need to make our services more of a necessity for most all other non-combat professions. They attempted to do this with a few publishes way back when, but most of us believe it was not enough.

I think they are good ideas. I'm sure others do as well, often things get read but no replies are made. I blame it on /vendor search.
