One answer for the entire question. Yes.
Droid Engineer is fun, frustrating, and tiresome.
Here is what I posted the last time I answered this question for someone.....
As I've told people in the past.
Read all of the stickies before you decide.Take a look at the Droid Issues thread and other threads, that describe the DE profession.
DE has the highest bug per feature ratio. Well over 90% of the items that we craft has an issue in some way, shape, or form. If you can look past that, then welcome aboard.
There is also the computer upgrade comparison. If you enjoy getting frustrated at doing computer upgrades for yourself, or a friend, with limited available funds/parts and you like sitting there looking at the screen, when something doesn't work just quite right, then DE is for you. Otherwise, you might want to try a profession that can be a little less aggrovating, like Armorsmith or Weaponsmith.
That is exactly way I like the DE profession. So many different combonations and alot of times you have to work to get it right. Unlike other professions, DE is one where the ones for play it for the fun of playing. As for Weaponsmiths and armorsmithes and tailors, they are in it for the money because everyone needs them. DE gives people a luxery that only can be found here. We build droids. They aren't made in a factory (with exception of Seekers and other simple droids) they are made from us. You can't find that anywhere else in the game.

Well just to be clear, all droids and accessories can be made from factories. Perhaps a better way to put this statement is there are so many combinations of droids we can make, we tend to get a lot of special orders. It is quite possible to have a well-stocked vendor with a good variety of manufactured droids.
