Thread: DE since Launch... until now. Good luck, folks!

I've reached my limit and grown tired of waiting for the Sony to fix the ailing DE profession, while watching the obscene proliferation of creature pets. I surrendered my Master DE tonight and am now looking for a crafting profession where I don't have to answer a ton of questions and offer apologies and excuses on behalf of the Devs before making a sale.

I really enjoyed crafting droids, but it finally got just too depressing for me to continue on.

Good luck to those of you who remain! May the Master Droid Engineer title one day be held in equal esteem with it's peers.

i did the samethe day of the new patch. Been a DE since July. I really enjoyed being apart of a unique profession, but Ido not see any solutions to the profession coming in a reasonable amount of time. Creature pets have proliferated with the latest patch. Unfortunately the designers lack the Star Wars vision in that respect. Good luck to the remaining DEs and I will support you the best I can.

I fully understand. I sometimes get bitched at when something goes wrong with a droid I sold. I try to explain it is a bug and get treated like it is my fault. I wish you guys well though.

I have the exact same issues. I understand your grief. Im sick of having to explain and appologize to customers for droids that don't work or suddenly don't work after a patch. I honestly don't believe some of the people here who claim that business is great. I think there are only 2 DEs in this game who seem to be happy about thier profession as it is. *sighs, shaking her head*

Istill can't fathom how everyone isn't making any money!

I'm MDE, and some of you have seen me on radiant, and I've made my fortune (to the tune of several mil) all by selling droids. I didn't even have vendor until I hit (4-3-3-4), and I never sold anything up until that point either. I ran those stupid survey missions for hours ata time. Now I have more money than i know what to do with. It's quite simple actually:

Try these3 things.

a) get out there and sell your stuff, advertise.

b) make business goals, make productstandards

c) be resourceful, and spend your time wisely. use factories.

For some of us, it isnt about money. It is about building something unique and fun. Sure I CAN sell the droids that I make now. But they are no different then the droids I was making months ago. No Krayt segments will ever make them better. No experimenting on modules will make the do anything different.

It is dull. And that is why we are fading out. I've picked up armorsmith during this dry spell if interest and I must say it is a much better profession.

This is all old news. Im even sure you agree with me. We can make money selling probots and medical droids. Hell, I made 75k selling a general socket cluster cheat MSE with every level 6 module yesterday (mostly because the architect felt bad for me). It just is'nt fun.

Well, I got the game to be a crafter and during beta I knew i wanted to be a DE.. well I am in no rush on becoming a DE..BUT i am sticking with the DE class.. Yes it is broken (wrose than a black hole) but there is that hope that something might happen thats good for the DE class. Yes I am stick of 'MOUNTS in SPACE' and crap like that (yeah i remeber the movies..wasnt the falcon a flying Dewback? i think it was).. But the devs have more or less made sw:g a test game for eq II.. simple as that.. no matter what they say (if they say anything at all). But I am close to being Master DE and will be sticking by it.. I am a casual gamer and dont have the time to 'drop this and do that class, then drop another clas' etc etc.. and also the jedi/holocron thing? i thank it is a joke and a half.. like 'I was a weaponsmith and the box said for be to be a commando.. well i am bu for some reason i forgot how to make guns' etc etc..it is like your avatar is a Protocal Droid that gets mind wiped every time.. soo sad..

I'm leaving the profession (not the game) as well. It's not about money Xililicious. I've made millions on droids honestly and I never have to sell anything else to be able to live quite well. I was one of the first handful of MDEs on scylla and I profited from that. I'd love to know what % of my server's droids were crafted by me. I'm just tired and bored, as I think many of us are. We make 2 things really, mobile crafting stations and mobile hospitals. Toss in the occasional probot and that about sums it up. I've been a DE for a very long time and it's time to move on to something more gratifying. I may come back...who knows. I just can no longer rationalize having that many skill points tied up in a profession that I have frankly come to loathe. good luck to everyone else though.

I am very close to selling mine off. I just sat up sunday and realized I almost never have my droids out because since the battery usage change they are just to annoying to have up at all times and only get taken out when I need it. I have never felt that with my mount or my non ch pet the desire to store it so it isn't costing me resources as it sits around following me.

We have very limited use often broken pets that are a chore to keep working correctly. Until droids are actually more useful batteries should be needed no more than 1 time per hour if that. CH do not need to feed their pets every 15 minutes just to keep them obeying orders neither should we.

Well said! I hadn't thought about that until just now.

The worst part about the batteries is I usually don't know it needs a new one until I really, really need it to obey my order at that precise moment. I'd love to see one of the Devs try to get a battery out of a crate and use it to recharge a probot while you're running for your character's life. (You can't). And, that's usually what I use the probot for. Delay them enough for me to get away.

It isn't about money. I'm on Radiant as well, I made a mint after Mastering. But having to add an apology with each droid gets old after a while.

If you look, most of the Masters are gone. I don't craft anymore, K'rem is playing on another server now. I haven't seen a few of the other Masters in a long while. Gimpy recently posted an auction that included resources like Semok(900+ oq, ut, and sr) which indicates to me he may be retiring soon.

Which is why you're able to make a mint. As a general rule, the rest of us Masters aren't really bothering anymore
