Members of my guild was asking me to place some droids in the city as wandering NPC's. Kinda like moving decorations.

It would be nice if it was possible for a city mayor to do the following:

1. Call out a droid.
2. Define a set of waypoints for it to follow.
3. Release the droid to the city.

This would delete the droid from the data pad and permanently make it an NPC driod belonging to the player city that follows the defined set of waypoints. Like any decoration, could be removed by the mayor.

We're trying to do somthing similar in Vagabonds Rest. If a person doesn't normally us a droid they set one up with waypoints and let it Patrol. We almost always have at least an MSE, (built by Trochus under protest ) wandering the City Hall.

I think this is a good idea. In fact, I'd tie this with an idea I posted a few weeks ago, about all civic buildings (and possibly personal ones as well) having building datapads, to which droids could be attached.

If the building owner (or mayor) could utilize the building's datapad to call forth the droid, and the droid was allowed to patrol within a set radius of it's 'home', you'd pretty much get everything you want, you'd add to immersion, and you'd increase droid sales.

Make those droids actually FUNCTIONAL in terms of somehow improving the effectiveness of the building, and you'd REALLY increase droid sales.

as long as it's completley moderated by the mayor (or some city official) i think it's a good idea.

We've all seen towns with 50+ droid and creature billboards and now how annoying it can get.

I like this idea, but only if the Droid naming thing gets fixed. I don't want to see a bunch of R2's named (Spanky) running around. Now if you could actually name them R2-V6 or something like that, I'm all for it.

I'd like it better if they actually served a purpose as well as being decorative.

Say, when equipped with a "Structure Maintenance module" that they could be assigned to buildings to reduce maintenance costs. They'd just putter around inside and outside the buildings as persistant NPC's while on the job... being both decorative and functional.
