I believe that it should be set up so that better droids become available to characters as they advance in their profession regardless of their profession. This way a Master Architect could have the same form of Droid a Master Rifleman could.

The best battle droids should trail behind the best creature pets so that a Master CHs pet vs a Master Architects pet would result in a win for the CH.

This system would in no way harm the CH profession, it would not unbalance PVP any more then any weapons or armor do, and it would allow complete noncombatants to participate in PVE.

You weren't stealing anything. I was just letting you know that there are others that feel, and believe, the same as you. A warning about that thread, its slightly lengthy.....

I think that the max CL-10 pets for non-CHs was made so that stronger certed combat droids would be more of a draw to the public eye, since Combat Droids have had been looked at so negatively. With the addition of the 1 Droid/Pet/Perk, a more powerful combat droid that is certed to more 'experienced' characters only makes sense, when it comes to the movement away from the current 'Pet Wars'.

The creation of a CL-25 Combat droid would make it so that higher level characters could solo some content, but not like a Master CH can. I would expect that even the best combat droid that a DE will be able to make will stay in line with a CL-25 CH pet, but will be available to those that have spent enough time in the game to spend most of their Skill points.

OK... this time you get the Cliff Notes version.

One-size-fits-all cert system =profs with strong damage output multiplying their effectiveness (damage output/damage taken) by several times. In the case of Commandoes and Riflemen maybe by as much as an order of magnitude due to the huge hams of CL-25 pets and the 2.5 damage multiplier they normally get in melee.

This is the source of ALL the pet imbalances currently in game due to strong melee profs dabbling in CH.

That's why I say any multi-prof cert system will have to be carefully balanced.

Example of a CL-25 pet... stormtroopers. 8000 HAM, light armor with 25% resists. Good damage output. (But watch out for the ones that spawn with rifles... I think they take the same 2.5 melee damage a player does. They run like little girlies.)

I just don't think that the devs are gonna back off on their new "max CL-10 pet for non-pet professions" rule.

Its not about balancing the classes against each other so much as balancing the players against the NPC's.

Pets act as force multipliers... even more so in this game then some others. The stronger you are, the more benefit you get out of a pet that can tank for you while you deliver damage. The increasing powercurve is only restrained by the pet's ability to hold agro.

Any cert system tied to combat professions is going to have to be VERY carefully balanced,profession-by-profession, taking into account the ability to dabble in other combat lines.

What we'll see in the short run, is stronger combat droids certed to DE's. (I hope. I could be wrong and they could give 'em to Image Designers. )
