Im not too sure on this complete.

Could someone list the modules and what they do, exactly?

And whats the difference between a medical module and a surgical droid?

I"ll do the best I can, but remember I'm at work and am doing this from Memory so chances are I will miss one or two..

Modules:

Medical - This allows any person with BASE MEDIC SKILLS to heal someone outside of a hospital or camp. This WILL NOT turn the droid into a healing pet that will heal you in battle. Even after a month I still get 4 tells a day from people wondering why their droid won't heal them. There are 6 lvls of medical modules, the higher the lvl the higher the bonus that is added to a Medic while healing.

Storage (Item) - This lets a droid hold an item from your inventory. There are upto 6 Different levels of storage module and I would assume that varying lvls would yield a large capacity for items. As this is yet working as intended I don't know for sure.

Storage (Data) - Same as Item storage but this one stores items off your datapad, schmatics, waypoints..etc..

Crafting - There are four types, structure, food, weapon, clothing..This basically turns any droid into a mobile crafting station provided the droid can accept the module. Some droids take modules and some do not.

A surgical droid is just a model name. As of right now the surgical droid offers no "bonus" to a medic. An R5 with a medical module and a surgical droid with a medical module will still offer you the same abilities. I would assume later on the devs will give the surgical droid some special ability to make it unique.

The advantage of a Surgical droid has say to an R5 is the ability to hold 2 modules, my best selling droid is a Surgical Droid with a medical module and a food crafting module. This allows medics to not only heal in the field but make stimpak D's right on the spot.

I am an incredible DE noob and I hate asking questions unless I absolutely can't figure it out through reading.

I am trying to create R3 advanced bomb droids. From my understanding I create Detonation modules, craft them into general droid modules? So I put6 Det. Modules into two General Modules, then craft that into the final droid?

Depends on the droid, some droids take the modules directly. Some you need to build into a harness, and some take a combination of the two. For the R3, you'll build 2 combat module harnesses with 3 modules each. And those 2 harnesses will go into the droid.

You have to put them into combat clusters. General clusters do not work in R-unit droids.

Clarification: detonation module x3 -> into acombat cluster-> into the droid (which will take two full clusters).
