Hey guys, I started a new toon on another server. I wanted this toon to be a crafter but armor and weaponsmiths are over abundant. Eventually I was thinking shipwright, but DE sounds fun. I read the stickies at the top and all, I was just looking for ur insight on what kind of money I can expect to make, and the ups and downs of the profession.

Thanks in advance guys!

I think what our esteemed colleague is trying to say here is that this is not one of the more profitable crafing professions, and it's got it's fair share of problems. Reason being is this game is very combat-centric, and we don't have a lot to offer to combat-types other than bounty hunters.

In essence, Droid Engineering is a labor of love. It's a complex profession that allows you to make a wide variety of droid configurations. A lot of the droid modules are broken or nerfed right now, so our income is almost solely based off bounty hunters and special orders from crafting-types. But your margins can be good since there is not a whole lot of competition, and there is hope for the future.

Oh, I feel the flames burning behind me for being optimistic...

Depending on your personality, one of the major parts of our profession can be an up or a down. Plan to spend a lot of time talking to people about droids. A lot of folks will becurious about what they can do with a droid. And after a sale you can expect to spend some time teaching the person about the droid, how to use, program and name it for example.

One of the down sides of DE is you usually never see your customers again. As things stand a droid basically lasts for ever so unless they want a different droid configuration you will probably never hear from them again.

Just my two creds worth.

Do you think the fix to BH droids and the increased potential of massive BH farming due to the new NPC boss mark missions willhave a greater impact on your profit potential? I'm considering making an alt a DE to basically outfit my BH for this very purpose, but was considering that the profession in general may actually be a profitable one.

You need to realise that for a DE "fairly well" can mean 200k a week

Which compared to other crafting professions......
