Once the CH changes go in the probot will outclass a non-ch pet any day. the ability to take large amounts of damage without needing to be healed will benefit you much more in combat than the ability to heal the pet. couple factors that affect this, you can no longer heal the pets mind in one quick command, you have to be right next to the pet to heal it (bad for ranged people), and in the amount of time you spend healing the pet you will have been able to do a considerable amount of damage to the mob.

Want to do some real tanking? buy 5 probots and bring them all out at one time. How do you bring them all out? Simple, tell one to stay, run 1000 meters, call another, and go back, rinse and repeat.

I just wanted some explanation of the use of droids for combat. I am master medic, and novice Pistoleer, and I have no pets. I am looking for something to help me solo some combat missions above CL17. Maybe CL 25+ or so.
What should I be looking for in a combat droid, what type ect. Or, would I be better off getting a CL 10 pet? I would prefer a droid tho.

Right now there is only one combat droid (there is another poseur, but the DZ70 isn't worth discussing in this context).
The probot is a fair tank when equipped with maximum armor, and as long as you are capable of dishing out a fair amount of damage. Probots are excellent at taking aggro from monsters, and while their damage is low (like a CDEF pistol) their attack is fast, and they last rather longer than their 810 or 820 HAM might lead you to believe. Just try to find a droid with full 40% resist medium-grade armor.
In January we expect some new combat droid designs, and then something even better for February, but we don't yet have word on what this means.

Get both. For the time being, at least, you can have both a probot and a CH pet out.
The probot is the one combat droid we make (the DZ70) doesn't count.
The CH pet will be stronger, and can be healed.
But, if you set the probot on Guard for the pet, or for yourself, it is a good addition to your arsonel.
