Thread: MAybe this patch isnt so bad
Before patch i sold almost no Combat droids at all.
After patch quality doesnt matter on combat droids but i might sell some.
Rest of the modules still take quality resources and expiementation.
Assuming some "old as time" combat droid fixes come through it might actually be, dare i say it, beneficail.
Essentially combat droids are like seekers/arakyds now.
I still can make kick ass harvest modules, det modules, etc...
Im still having trouble with the hame being based on cl since i have to adde combat/armor to get any decent amount of health on any other type of droid i make but it may be bearable.
Have to see how it works out.
If you don't mind the fact that you make a droid with 9000 armor, then after the customer uses it once it ends up with 1217 armor.
So even if you do sell some droids, people will be upset.

I think as long as you're clear about the "bug", customers don't mind. I put that in all descriptions on my combat droids on my vendor and tell customers about it when I do special orders. Most just shrug their shoulders and accept it, being that there's nothing we can do about it.

I think there are two seperate issues here.
Functionality-wise.....this publish isn't so bad.
Crafting System-wise....its an unmitigated pile of Bantha DooDoo, unless you like uniform quality
30k
For a CL30 pet that does decent damage, has some armor, and never dies thats a deal!

Well I don't plan on selling any combat droids for at least a while. If 9000 armor is possible, I don't want to risk people getting stuck with Droids with 1217 armor. Although I guess sicne crap resources can be used, I could like sell them for 10k or something.... lol.
My big thing is the reputation of Droids. People know if they come to my vendors they can get the best droids the server can make. If they buy a Droid now, even if I say it is buggy, with low armor it may die fast. This may make them think that Droids are still useless. I would rather not sell droids for a bit, then start stocking them when they are at full power.
I do agree with your views on this. I don't plan on selling combat droids for the time being either. Either we 'exploit' with the risk to the customer of a retroactive nerf, or we build to high spec with the risk to ourselves of wastage of resource if the droids never get fixed.
Come to think of it, does the CR or Armour Module rating data still exist in a droid that has been 'readied' from a deed now? It certainly doesn't show on the deed or the datapad. If the data isn't there, then a fix can't be retroactive.
A cl30 droid that hits for 200 damage and has any armor is better then what had as of last patch.
In addtion i can sell it at 30k now.
They are paying 30k for something that is usefull and will never die. Thats a deal no matter how you look at it. When 9000 armor sticks ill be raising my prices accordingly.
I have many happy customers from the last couple days, they liked droids before and they love droids now.
Not one of my prior customers has asked for a refund, not that i would give it anyway. Its SOE that screwed them not me and im a DE who makes very little money anyway so I cant be refunding everyone.
I destroyed all my pre-pub 18 droids and i have moved on. I still have other modules that require good resources so i have been concetrating on that in my crafting.
I still wish that ham and acutaly combat ratings where more varied but i think that fix will come in the next patch, if it doesnt I still think i can live with it as long as they fix the other bugs.
We may be giving up some of our indiviuality for a more marketable product. Less cusotmization and more sales, but thats just on combat droids.
You know how stoked people are to get a max combat R2?
I sold one to a new player yesterday and he was tottaly excited.
Aye, it's definately not the time to be crafting combat droids...
I will continue my Custom Work (which has always been the bulk of my business) and keep my vendor stocked with Astromechs, flight comps, program chips, repair kits, batteries, customize kits, and a few "standard"droid modelsto keep the masses happy. That should keep me busy enough. ![]()
...And maybe this is a really good time to stock up on crates of components... while we wait... and wait... ![]()
Yeah I concur here..
1. All my droids have been trashed and I will be making new ones. (Didn't have many so not too long to refill vendor/bazaar)
2. Fortunately all my combat advertised droids contained at least 2 combat modules and 2 level 4 armor modules so will retain their combat ability and will just be affected by the armor bug.
3. Until the armor bug is rectified I will be making low level droids that will not be overly affected by the new low armor effectiveness. This way customers get what they pay for. I never really charged for armor modules as I only ever made level 4 ones. However, once the armor bug is fixed I will introduce the option for Level 5 and 6 armor and even Levels 1 to 3 and price accordingly.
4. Fortunately my droid sales are split between space, normal, bounty hunter droids and droid tools. So I will only be losing the percentage given by the 20 droids I used to make and sell each week.
5. Unfortunately this means that I no longer can really in all honesty be able to sell Probot Advanced, R3 Advanced etc containing various Combat modules and price them accordingly. My 20 droid sales a week now become about 10.
*shrugs* oh well, life goes on...
