Thread: Droid Enhancements, Fixes and New Functionality
The language thing could come into play with NPCs as well. There's a lot more NPC races than there are player races. Say you're doing a quest and you need to talk to an NPC that speaks a non-player language? Most people would just speak basic I think, but could be fun for RP purposes...
As for slicing, the bonus would apply to slicing weapons and armor as well. I think most Smuggler's only slice terminals when they have to to level, not sure how many slice terminals on a regular basis to get better missions...
A Survey Droid would be very cool, sorta likehowthe BH droids find marks. Tell it what resource you're looking for and it could do a range-based search for the highest concentration. Maybe base usage on the level of surveying, plus the quality of the droid. If someone with Survey 4 could get a droid with a 1000m range, how cool would that be? WIth charges like the BH droids as well, I like that idea. =)
This could also be a solution for non-artisan professions like Doctor and CM that are forced to take survey to find their resources. Maybe there could be a low level Survey Droid with limited range and number of uses that could help find resources. Replace the utterly uselessMedical Forage abilitywith a cert to use this droid.
i like this idea alot, it really sux when you have to drop everything and scoure the planet(s) for a particular resource when your in the middle of something else.
Some of this is rehash, some of it stuff I've thought about as I've progressed up the DE tree...
Combat Droids - I know we all want Droidekas, but I think the big thing we all want is something that's equivalent to a CL15 pet that non-CH's can have. That'd give people more options for their tank pet. I don't want a CH nerf, justto be on the same level. Also make it so that only armor modules can be put in Combat Droids. Maybe make it work in tandem with Weaponsmiths - we already have to get Power Cores from architectsand Composite segments from Armorsmiths, perhaps we can upgrade a Combat Droids weapons by getting a part from a Weaponsmith?
Slicer Droid -Make a module similar to the medical module that gives Smuggler's a slicing bonus. This is sort of in keeping with the SW universe since R2 was always hacking into terminals and the such. Give it a power from 1-6 and make it so maybe a Smuggler could slice with the droid out and not need special tools, or could get an even bigger bonus by using the droid.
Data Storage - Please let us put waypoints in back in data droids. Figure out how to keep people from abusing the multiple mission thing, but personally my Datapad is filling up and it get's difficult to find the waypoints I'm looking for. Let me put waypoints to old dungeons and POEs and shops I visit rarely into a Data Droid.
Item Storage - Supposedly items on a droid don't have to be insured, which is nice, but since there's no death penalty it doesn't matter at all now. Ten items is too few, make it like 20 or more. Make it so that an artisan can use a droid to store a lot of their resources and subcomponent crates without having to get a second house so they don't have to give up frivilous stuff like, oh,furniture in their main house. Maybe make it so that the Binary Load Lifter can hold a lot more than any other droid so that they have a reason to exist. =)
Crafting Modules - Does quality mean anything? I know people have become more and more concerned with the quality of crafting tools and stations, but does it make a difference in a droid? Should it? Can there be a way to tell?
Repair - Make the Repair Droid repair, and make him do it better than any old Droid with a repair module.
Surgical - Give them the healing effect, fix their inherent Med Rating and make it *higher* than a MSE with a Med VI module.
Power - Give us some visual feedback on how much power a droid has left. Make it their blue bar.
Protocol - Ideally they should have limited the number of languages we could learn and then have even *more* languages that NPC's speak. Give us the ability to make language chips and make the only modules a Protocol Droid accepts be language chips. Basically you'd hear gibberish unless you have your Protocol Droid out. He'd have an area effect, translating unknown speech for you, and translating your speech for others that don't know your language.
Have more droid bits useful to other professions. Maybe if you stick a Droid Brain in a harvester it'll mail you when it runs out of maintenance, power, or has stopped harvesting because the resource has shifted.
Anyway, probably lots more I can think of, just wanted to toss those out.
^_^
There's only a few languages players can't learn, one is lekku
As for combat droids, the best combat droid should be on par with a rancor. A high requirement for the droid would be necessary.
Once agian surveying and scouting droids, reqs surveying 4 and ranger respectively, ranges and distances of X and Y to be experimented on by the DE. Sold with limited uses.
the slicer droid sounds like a good idea, but do that many slicers actually slice terminals?
