Thread: We need another nerfing.
Title is sarcasm.
So... Here I am thinking maybe this is an exploit... I finally find a good use to Data Droids and am a bit scared to post it cause well... We know what happens when DE's have something useful.
NowI don't know if this is new or old and commonplace but, it helped me greatly. Just wanted to make a thread about it.
Anyway... Taking a break from the DE grind (not giving it up(yet)), I have recently gone the ArmourSmith route as there seems to be an adequatedemand for it on my server (Shadowfire).
Being used to grinding (I'm only a 4,0,0,4 DE for now), I figured I could grind my way through ArmourSmith with ease as the materials are less in quantity (as I have a huge stockpile from DE except Hides and Bones)and the experience needed for skills are so small compared to DE.
While looking for a goodNovice ASitem to grind (Mabari ArmourWeave Chest Plates). I notice it needs 3 identical Synthetic Cloths to be produced. A Novice Tailor item. I didn't want to getNovice Tailorjust for 1 item...
Synthetic Cloths are what I needed.I took it upon myself to ask a Tailor if she can produce some schematics for me using my materials so I can buy a Factory and produce the needed Items. Transferingthe schematicwith a trade doesnt work. So, I end up placing an order for some 800 odd synthetic cloths. I've gotten used to grinding and its hard to break the habit.
With the slow process of Factory Produced items I needed more Synthetic Cloths fast... So I ran a little experiment.
With my DE skills I made a Mouse Droid with a Level 4 Data Storage Module. Loaded it with a Schematic for testing purposes... Asked my Tailor friend to trade the Mouse Droid with the schematic in it to see if she can get it. Well it worked.
So, I placed an order forquite a bitSynthetic Cloth Schematicswith my materials of choice, given to theTailorso I can use itin my own factory with my own materials. Finally Data Droid Modules seem to serve a purpose I felt.
Now, without being a Novice Tailor I was able to purchase a foreign schematic to help my own grinding. How does this relate to you?
Well, I was thinking if any profession needs an item from another professions, he or she can purchase schematics instead of the actual itemsto use in their own factory instead of relying on someone else.
How constructive that is to the Economy is up to you. As I am just practicing for ArmourSmith, the resources are sinked out of existance.
Once again, if this is commonplace, I'm sorry for posting something I found interesting on my miscellaneous adventures as a DE. ![]()
Well, people usually try to defend the data module by saying they can store the schematics in there, and it comes in handy (like, 1 crafter out of the entire game, heh).
But you just made a good point...
I want to get into 3 elite professions, Master Droid Engineer, Creature Handler (not mastered), and fill the rest up with Rifleman, Merchant, or Bio-Engineer. That leaves no room for me to get Master Artisan, which is required for many of my components.
With that, I could make a data droid to have a master artisan sell me some schematics and stuff...
Altho, I don't even have enough income to support personal harvestors, let alone factories, but hey, it's something for those who don't want (or can't) master artisan to be able to get their components.
The devs have stated that schematics can be stored in data droids, so this shouldn't be an exploit/oversight.
As for the economic effect, this way it is possible for someone to run a factory on other people's schematics. Perfect, right? Just like in the real world.
I'm not complaining, don't get me wrong. Thanks for clarifying that it is an intended use, wasn't sure myself.
Just something that's new to me. Though, with your mention of Trading Schematics being broken isn't good. =/ Oh well.
Let the thread fade away. ![]()
>>>Trading schematics seems to be broken but you can sell them through vendors just fine.
So much for the need for a data storage module. ![]()

Admin on factories definitely works, at least for equipment factories. People on the list can manipulate schematics and the hoppers just fine now.
For some reason, adding people to a Factory or Harvester is fickle. The best way to do it is remove them ifthey are on it already, then add to HOPPER 1st. Then ADMIN 2nd. This order is critical.
Once I started adding people Hopper 1st admin 2nd, have yet to have anyone not be able to use my installations.
