Thread: Surgical Droid Information Requested (Doctor needs your knowledge)
Hello to you, I figured I would come directly to the source for answers to these questions a number of doctors seem to haev different opinions so who better than the experts.
I have thought for some tiem that Ishoudl make the move to an "Advanced Surgical Droid", but I hoenstly do not know what to ask for from a DE to ensure I am getting top of the line.
I would of course like the best droid possible for Buffing, Healing, as well as Crafting.
Beyond that do personality chips make a difference to anythign other than "character" of the droid? What chips are available that you would recomend?
I play on Starsider, does anyone know a DE they woudl recommend?
Thanks in advance for your time.

The Surgical Droid is supposed to slowly heal everyone within a certain radius, but it currently does not. It's also supposed to function as though it has a built-in Level VI Medical Module (110 rating) but it does not. As droids currently stand all you need is Med VI and Food/Chem Crafting modules in pretty much any droid chassis. A lot of medics and doctors get the Surgical Droid though because it "fits" their profession, hehe, or because they hope at some future date the area of effect healing actually works I guess.
Getting anADV would give you access to more modules, such as Data, Repair or Item, which may or may not be of use to you.
I'd love it if the Surgical Droid did something special for Doctors and Medics but for now it's only effective from an RP perspective. =)
The R-series (sometimes referred to as "Astromech droids") include the R2, R3, R4, & R5. These are the cylindrical-shaped droids made famous by R2-D2 in the StarWars movies. The only real difference between the R-series is the differently shaped "head" varying from conical to domed.
An R-series droid (R2s and R3s specifically) are a lot of droid for your credit since they can do so blasted many different things.. They hold a lot more modules than any humanoid droid can, including surgical.
The bottom line here is a matter of asthetics.. As a doctor, would you feel more comfortable (or your patients for that matter) being healed by a humanoid 'bot or a squatty cylinder-style 'bot. Frankly, you can get roughly the same high-end performance from both types; so it becomes more an issue of personal style.
Thank you all that is a lot of really good information there I was not getting on the other forums, it always pays to go to the source.
So then as for personal issues I would prefer the Medical Droid style as it is tied to my proffesion, and I will hope they fix the range healing thing in the future ![]()
I will ask for this to be crafted with Med VI and a Food &Chem Crafting mod, is there a number designation/rank I need ask for on the crafting module or is it all the same?
I will not ask for a personality chip as it is not applicable to the Medical Droid.
Now about how much should a fellow be expecting to pay for such a droid roughly or on average? IS there anything esle I should ask for or be aware of?
Thanks again for the information, and if your ever on Starsider and in a pinch for a Doctor please feel free to look me up. ![]()
If I were you, I'd buy a standard surgical, with a food/chem crafting station and a medical module 6. Personality doesn't matter that much, just get whatever you like. Expect to pay a little more for geeky though, since that one takes a lot more resources to make.
One correction for Bendar, while the Item/Data modules don't work in the surgical droids, they do work in the LE Repair droids. Not sure about the protocol.

Wrong on both counts. Nowhere has this been stated by Devs. Both are rumors based on poor wording in patch notes.
