Hi guys and gals

From the looks of this forum, it seems all of you need alot of cheering up. This forum kinda has a 'Depressed Goth' enviroment.

I remember when first getting the game and looking through different professions available and setting my eyes on the Droid Engineer. "Droid Engineers? Who on earth would want to be some grease monkey who prefares the company of machines to people?" Then I got to thinking of how important droids are to the star wars galaxy (not the game).

Obviously I'm not a droid engineer myself, but I just managed to save up and buy me a surgical droid with crafting station, medical capability and storage room. I'm calling him 'Mender' Great name, huh?

Now this little droid is very useful to me, but I can't seem to find any other uses for droids in the game, and that's a huge shame. A sin actually... I'm probably just rehashing what has been said and suggested by other posters, but droids should have a MUCH larger role in the game than they do at present. I don't think you'll find anyone who would disagree on that, except for smacktards who's only joy come from PVP grief.

So many great ideas have been posted here, and should really be shoved into the devs faces. Droids are like the computers of the Star Wars Galaxy, and you guys are the only trained tech gurues. I'd like to see every proffesion able to use droids in some manner, and have them be a part of their life.
-Musicians using droids for more elaborate symphonies
-Image designers, artisans, chefs, tailors using them in a similar manner.
-Surveyors sending out surveying droids. Then getting load lifters to bring back large amounts of resources to them.
-Slicer droids for smugglers
-Bomb droids for commandoes
-Practice droids for all the combat classes. Wouldn't that be fun, simulating an encounter with whatever you program it to be.
-Walking billboards and advertizers and lots lots more.

Basically, droids are the slave labour to the galaxy who do their job unfailingly and cheerfully (depending on the personality chip....)

There are some places in the game where they already SHOULD have been implemented. Now I don't know the first thing about the artisan proffesions (I'm a Trandoshan Ranger who dabbles in medic), nor do I know how factories work (If they work?). Shouldn't these factories be using droids as there workforce? That would open a whole new niche for you droid engineers. Being able to sell droids to everyone with factories should increase your revenue. It would also increase interdependency between the proffessions, something SOE seems keen to be doing.

Hmmmm.... I'm jumping all over the place, aren't I? Jumping to something else; Combat Droids
It seems like many DE really want these in the game. I can understand why seeing as how ridicilously gimped your proffession is at the moment, but I for one don't want them. They'd just further ruin the Star Wars feeling. Sure, the feeling may not be anywhere near true Star Wars, but why add Gasoline to a burning fire?

Reason Number 1: In the time span of the game, combat droids are illegal under Imperial law. The only combat droids you'll see are those whacko bounty hunter droids 4-LOM and IG-88; an assassin droid. Nobody wants a machine that can turn on its owner and kill them. The ruthless Trade federation used combat droids but made sure they were slaved to a master control ship, which in turn makes them very vulnerable.

Reason Number 2: You'll start seeing players with even larger entourages of death dealing thugs. I gather from several signatures that many find it ridiculous to see huge grauls trailing after a player like an oversized puppy. Signatures like: Pokemon wars: a Galaxy untamed, makes me either want to laugh or cry at the feel of the game. Its bad enough that we've got pokemons, do you really want to turn it into Terminator Wars:Rise of the Machines?

On a lighter note, I think you should get the ability to make HRD droids. If anyone has read 'Shadows of the Empire'
,You'll know what I'm talking about. Now, these droids would of course not be for assassination, but for pleasure! The market must be huge! As a big, scaly lizard living in the wilds, I'm not really the chick magnet when I walk into the cantina. The only time I get a bath is when I have to swim for my life through the swamps while escaping sime vile thing. If you could make a really knock out twilek chick I could drape on my arm, that would make everyone think "Hey, That Sargasos fella must really know the moves!"

I see it now. You could open brothels with all sorts of HRD droids. Something for all tastes (Wookies your thing? Not a problem). Heck, I might have to create a new character to take advantage of these possibilities. I'd get a big brown pimp coat and a wicked hat. And a wood staff as my pimp cane. Maybe a slice hound to round out the image? OR maybe just a sidekick bothan....

Well, I certainly hope you droid engineers get your justice. You really deserve a good place in the game

Thanks for the thoughts. Oh and by the way, if you bought a surgical droid, you cant name him. All walking talking droids are unnamable, just another long standing droid bug that gets ignored

I appreciate the sentiment, however Battle Droids is all i look forward to now-days. All else has been ruined for me for many of the reasons you've read.

Hmmm.... Just found out I couldn't rename my droid. Still like him though. Makes my camps a lotmore fun. Just another example of how much lovin' your proffesion needs....
