Thread: Pulling out a droid in the wild without a campsite
So I met up with a guy I talk to now and then the other night and we head to the pvp battlefield in Entha cause he hasnt been there (noone ever seems to go... dont know why) Im a DE and hes just a combat class basically and he whips out the probot I made him a while back right there in front of me. I ask howd you do that? were in the middle of nowhere. **edit**? I try to pull one of mine out. no can do. He puts his back and pulls it out again. I set up a camp and voila mines out but not without setting up a camp. He says he thought the campsite need was gone because hes been pulling them out whenever he wants to.
what the hell is going on? Together we cannot figure out why he can pull a droid out anywhere he wants and I cant.
Furthermore, I thought only DE could have 5 droids tamed, and all others could have 3.... He has 5 and so do a few others Ive talked to.
Some of you might say, well, maybe he was near his residence. I dont think thats true. Unless he has residences in 1 long stretch of ground we covered in a straight line for basically miles. which isnt possible.
It's a bug that some people can pull out pets (any type) outside of a camp/city. So don't sweat it, there's nothing you can do (without exploiting) to do such.
As for amount of droids one can have, everyone can have 5 droids in their datapad, regardless of who they are, DE's aren't special in that respect. I've read nothing anywhere stating that non-DE's should have less. The only bonus a DE has in this respect is we don't have to buy them...
Umm might have been patch notes mabe mabe not cant remember where i read it . but i read somewhere that players can pull out a bot in the wild but only on a planet which they have no residence on. might try checking what planet his house is on. I personaly have yet to try this , so this is in no way tested or proved, just something i think i read somewhere , might have been on some patch notes from the Test Server forums.
Might be something to look into deeper tho ![]()
Um its no mystery, you said it yourself, you just made him the droid. That means it was still in deed form. If a droid is in deed form, it can be TAMED anywhere. See the difference, he did not pull it out of his datapad, he tamed it from his inventory. 2 different things.
That you can tame a droid at anytime may or may not be a bug, I have not seen any definitive answer from devs on that one way or another. But as long as its just a deed, it is indeed tamable anywhere.
Yeah, thats true, did it myself a couple of times, tame a droid but if you store the droid you cant pull it back.
The original posted said his friend called and stored it a couple of times and he does it all the time.
It's just as likely that I won't be able to do this next time I try (it being a bug and apparently sort of random and all), and of course I can't have tried it everywhere, but this is not misunderstanding the way things are supposed to work. In some cases the restrictions on summoning droids do not operate the way they are intended to. I just don't know what those cases are.
I can confirm that is ita bug.
My fiance and myself each have our own account.
On my account, I can pull out my droid and my pet anywhere in the wilderness - without a camp, city or residence. The only exception isNaboo which happens to be my declared residence. On very rare occasions I need to use a camp... but it's too rare for me to remember the actual conditions.
On my fiance's account, she cannot pull her pet out anywhere except camps and cities and her residence. Additionally, she cannot pull out her pet in the Imperial outpost on Dantooine (she has to go out and make a camp). She doesn't have a droid.. but we all know that pet/droidis the same thing ![]()
So yes there is a bug... yes it's related to individual accounts.... yes it's easily reproduced.... no, I won't do a CSR ticket for it because I why nerf myself? - the whole requirement for camps to pull out droids and pets is stupid IMHO.
Yes - you can create an entire fleet of probots and leave them in deed form, then tame them one by one to come out at full health as soon as the last one is...relieved of duty. This used to work very well when droids were still permadeath, as you didn't have to store the last droid - it was removed from datapad immediately. But now you must store your old droid before you can tame another one (I think - I haven't been out fighting since to try it).
I didnt just make him the droid. He can do it anytime. My shopmate seems to be able to do it as well.
Im a DE and I cant.
I had a residence on the planet but i picked up the house and have none now as we both moved into a med house together and only 1 person can claim residence on it.
so that messes that idea up. His residence is on the planet and he can, mine is nowhere and i cant.
Its a bug that's been going on for over a month now.
I have it as well, it affects all pet-type things, droids, faction pets, creatures, whatever.
I'd start listing off the number of times I've reported this using /bug and opening tickets, nevermind doing it right in front of a CSR and explaining to him the problem; but I assume some of you would rather do something else with the next 30 years of your life.
As for now, hope you get 'bugged' at some point and it happens to you. With the way they "improved" camp locations (read: changed everything that was no-build and more to municipal or magically too close to a non-existant creature lair) its just a convenience.
Though personally if you ask me, a DE and a DE only should be able to call his droid out anywhere. I mean do you really have to setup a tent to flick the on switch?
Or it may work again tomorrow. Who the hell knows? I don't envy the guy who gets to debug this. ;-)
