howdy,.
I was interested in gettin me a droid,..had a probot once,..a gift,..until it fell apart and died,..never to come back,..yup,.during perma death.
But I do alot of survey'in and mining. Just wonderin what the best droid I should be usin. Ya know,.like medics use surgeon droids and so on. Is there a specific kinda droid for what I do? What should I be lookin for in a droid to assist me surveyin and diggin,..to a lesser extent, armorsmithin. I'm pretty unfamiliar with the different types so forgive my newbness,..thanks.

Probot is only viable combat droid.
Get one with best armor you can afford: look to pay 10k to 20k for one with medium armor and 40% resistances.
If you post your server a DE from your server may even message you (that would be incredible!)

dont waste your time "pardner". Droids are not as strong as creatures. I suggest a CL 15.

Unfortunately, we do not have any droids or droid modules that can directly asist you with either surveying or mining
I'm sorry. I really am, because I'd LIKE to offer you something for that. I'd rather see more people with droids running around.
That being said, at least we can help you with armorsmithing! A droid engineer who has trained up high enough (I think 0/3/0/0 is the minimum) can make a clothing crafting station that can follow you around. That would allow you to make higher quality goods (and experiment) while out in the field doing your main work.
As far as the KIND of droid to get, it's not important unless you wish to use your droid as a bodyguard. If you want a bodyguard droid, you will get a probot. In order for you to get a probat that can help with crafting, it will need to be an advanced probot, so you need to find someone trained to 0/0/0/4.
Finally, depending on the droid model you choose, you may have the choice of adding more modules beyond the crafting station. Available choices include secure item storage (safe on droid in datapad, no risk to items from death), data storage which is only truly useful to crafters who make a lot of draft schematics, and also medical modules, which (if you are trained in medical skills) allow you to heal in the field as if you were in a medical center (with varying degrees of effectiveness, depending on the level of the module).

now that permadeath is gone i suggest a probot loaded out this way:
-max armor (one lvl 6 or two lvl 4 armor modules)
-storage module (one lvl 6 should provides 10 extra inventory slots to hold what you harvest)
-clothing/armor crafting station module (for when you craft armor)
you might want to also get an astromech (r-unit) that has the general/weapon/droid crafting station, an additional storage module, and a lvl 6 medical module if you want to heal wounds.

Nice,.great info. Thanks all. From what I'm reading I think I'll be request'in an
R2 unit,-as much extra inv slots as possible, secure item storage,data storage,clothing crafting station, and if they can have two, I'll add the general/weapon/droid one too.
I don't care about armor or bodyguard stuff really,.unless bots can be aggroed, I don't want to use it to fight at all.
So are the above requests possible on an R2 unit? Do those boxey power droids exist? or maybe even one of those load lifter things,.an what's the ballpark on those puppies? gotta know how many missions ta take on,.Krevels are the new gnorts, heh,. I'm on Scylia btw,.
