Thread: lol...this Forum is a hoot
For months DEs have been complaining, and rightfully so, that their profession is broken. Recently, DEs have hadthe nearly-full attention of a guy that speaks directly to the Devs and is charged with helping to fix the profession. Now, I'm seeing posts pop up everywhere saying "it's not my job to gather info, YOU gather info" and "YOU fix the profession, I just want it to magically be fixed without any effort on my part."
This is frickin' hilarious. People are complaining about the amount of time it takes them to post their opinions on what's wrong and how to fix it, yet they're taking plenty of their time to complain about TH.
This is really funny to me, because I'm not a DE or part of the DE community. But if I were, I would be really pissed off because there's a bunch of people here giving the DEs that are helping to rebuild their profession a bad name. No wonder TH has trouble getting the info he needs out of you guys. Half the people that post are useless, and half those that want to help are tired of their posts getting buried in the crap others are posting. Yeesh.
I suggest some people here either shape up or shut up, or you're going to still have a broken profession two months from now because you missed your golden opportunity. And if you don't think this IS a golden opportunity because things aren't run exactly the way you'd prefer, then don't ruin it for everyone else that's working to fix it. If you do, then EVERYONE will be unhappy, and it'll be your fault, not the Devs'.

The only thing I'm voiceing an opinion on is DE only combat droids...
Everything else is being covered by those more long winded than I.

I'm as upset as everyone else over the state of the profession, and I admit I can get a bit exasperated at times over the responses we get, but the fact is, we're getting responses. A few weeks ago that's all we wanted. This is the start of the process, not the end of it, which I know is frustrating because we've all been upset for so very long, and have made so many posts already. But let's not turn in to a bunch of opportunistic jerks that trash the people that finally came to help us.
I remember seeing an episode of... well I guess it was Lois and Clark (I will hereafter deny having ever watched it) where someone sued Superman because he broke his wrist or something when Supe saved his life. I can't help but feeling we're doing the same thing to TH and the DEVs.

A good 90%+ of DE's agree with Sintrosi's summary of our plight. I guesswe should all "shut up" as well. I'm ticked because we've documented time and time again the myriad of current, nagging, unresolvedproblems the DE profession faces. The same problems two months from now? I know beta-testers who state that some of the problems we have now have been lingering since long before launch. And how exactly are my very vocal opinions stopping "everyone else" from fixing power droids from running out of power, or from fixing an LE Repair droid from not being able to repair anything, or from any number of the other dozens of confirmed, reported, and well known bugs and broken aspects of our profession?? SOE alone has the power to actually fix the bugs we've all reported months ago.
TH comes here and asks questions. That's admirable. Perhaps, since he's new, he needs a general briefing on what's going on. Fair enough.... but we've been told thatTH and the Devs havealready been in constant, continuing, and comprehensivediscussions with all our correspondents on the private forums; so when he comes here and asks some rather obvious questions, some of us may get a bit agitated. He asks questions regarding a plan they proposed which barely touches on the well known and well documented TOME of bugs we see day in and day out. That makes some of usvery agitated.
I don't care about you being upset. Know why? Because being upset won't help you get the fixes you want. Again I ask, is it better being right or getting a fixed profession? Which do you think will help more?
I agree with you, the good things are getting buried in the forum with mindless posts from non-DE's. Posts like this one.
I'm sorry, but I have only looked at 2 profession forums ever. Merchant and DE. My professions.
Its great that all sorts of non DE's are interested in what happens in the future, but don't assume you can post understandable, thought out answers to problems you know nothing about.
I don't understand how to fix DEs from a design perspective, so I don't post on it. I do, though, understand that whining about problems rather than working on them is counter-productive, so I posted on it. I figured since everyone that IS a DE is probably seeing anything but clearly, since they're too angry about the Devs, or about the people yelling at the Devs, to see what's right in front of them: a golden opportunity.
So I thought I'd post a little reminder.
I'm not disagreeing with that, its a great chance for us to make a change. I do have issue with Dev's not "seeing the nose in front of their faces". These problems have been in 100's perhaps 1000's of posts, since Beta. I don't think its our job at this point to repost the issues. The Dev's can take the time to look at the sticky posts, all 6 or whatever there are, and figure out whats wrong.
I also have issue with the dozens of new non-DE posters chiming in to solve problems they no nothing about.
Yes, its a great time to be a DE. Yes, they are looking to fix us. No arguement there. I just want someone to take the bull by the horns and say,"yes, this will be fixed in X time". No one seems to have the guts to get past the "spin factor". We are tired of spin...

So Domacett, explain to me exactly which situation in which whining is more productive than working? The same situation in which yelling and crying is more useful than simply saying "We're way ahead of you, all the answers you need can be found at this post...."
"Kid." heheh. Why don't you have some humility and instead of spending your time arguing with me, spend your time helping TH straighten out exactly what needs to get done. I don't know myself, other than that the whining needs to stop.
