Thread: To everyone who thinks the new Combat Droids would be unbalanced! Read this and stuff...
All the people and other classes who think DE's having combat droids would be "unbalanced" are forgeting (or they don't know) one simple fact.
WE MAKE LESS MONEY THAN ANYBODY!!!!!
We sell maybe 3 things
1. Medical Droids to medics
2. Crafting Droids to crafters
3. Probots
Each one of these things ONLY needs to be bought ONCE and ALL of these can be combined into ONE probot. Our items can't be sold for much since they're not that usefull.
Every combat profession buys several different types of weapons (which decay, can be experimented on to sell for more, don't require tons of tells on how to be operated, arn't nearly as buggy...etc...etc). Armor decays also, I own more than one set myself, and can be sold for much more. Tailors sell several outfits, Peopleconsume food and spice (I know chefs pretty messed up now too). You see where I'm going with this.
So basically
No Fun + Little Money = DE = Unplayable Profession
Little Money + Combat Droids = Playable Profession = YAY!
Through in all the bugs and boringness of our class and we really could use something like combat droids to spruce it up. That's the only reason I became a DE in the first place. Do creature handlers get to tame they're own creatures and fight with them, and sell them to others to make money?? Yes! Why can't we?
So lots of people flock to DE now, so what. We get more of a voice to the devs now, instead of having 4 on every other server like now. Personally I think the grind will keep MANY players away, expecially if the devs do this right (only can be built at master DE or something, not too powerful, etc.)
I don't think I'm the only one who dreamed of running into battle with 3 destroyer droids rolling along side of them. (that's what they are! not "droidekas". I hate that name lol). I just want to enjoy this profession.
YEAH baby!
Right now our lives suck pretty bad. Sorry I'm not on one of those servers where DE make 100k a day ![]()
Adding combat droid that high level DE can build, but only low level DE can use, would bringrays of Tatooine sunshine into me life.
Bring it on!
Good point, lets hope the people who moan about combat droids read this.
I am all for combat droids. And I don't care what people say about continuity here and there...
Continuity is dead, has been since 2 weeks from launch.
And as of now we really need something to this profession, combat droids are a good thing.
Yeah, I'd rather see the cont. messed up with droids than creatures anyway hehe
I don't think many people disagree that we need to be able to make better combat droids.
HOWEVER, the problem you describe could be fixed by allowing us to sell those combat droids to others AS WELL AS us them ourselves. Then the profession has the choice of what we want to do. Regardless, we need better things to sell before the devs turn us into CHs. There are already 20 combat professions. If you want combat, diversify into one of those. There is ONLY ONE profession that can make and sell droids. Considering how prevalent droids were in the movies, those droids should not be limited to only DEs.
My preference would be to implement a good combat droid that non-DEs could use ONLY ONE of, and that we would be able to call 2 of at a time of.
We get double dombat droid power AND things to sell.

Man, I need a combat droid just to survive my harvestor runs.
I want you to have it. I just want to sell it as well...
I agree with the Mullet...
After mastering DE and realizing the full extent of our uselessness, I took up armor crafting. Ive made more money in one day selling armor (on the bazaar mind you), than Ive made in 4 months of trying to sell droids.
If not for the moral and sometimes monetary support of my guildgmates, I would have left this game long ago.
Yes, we need combat droids. But lets be more specific... We need combat droids that WORK.
cheers....
I don't want them over-fixing us. I don't want them giving us all these wild uber goodies such as Combat Droids which are better than CH pets. Then we just get a lot of "FotM" people joining, CH's and BE's whining about us (rightly so), and people getting bitter because we are so good.
I want to be viable. I want our core issues addressed. I want them to make a fix that does just that. If they suggest something that is in the right area, but off a bit, then we should try to fix it and tone it more to what we need rather than unnecessary parts that would only overbalance us. And if they suggest things that don't hit any of our core issues, sure, they may be nice for awhile, but in the end it's just fluff that we don't need.
Combat droids that only we can use is a nice idea, but I think only for higher end combat droids which the general public shouldn't have access to. I don't think *all* combat droids should be DE only however.
i think its great that you guys are getting something good. but all i read is this thread andi hate you all. you whine more about the money you make than ive heard from anybody about anything. you chose the profession and thats why you make so little money. but good for you, you stuck through. while you are sitting at home making your droids and using your pistoleer skill to try to take out krayts i will take my graul mauler and my flamethrower and kill them faster than you ever could. who needs combat droids. you guys do i understand that. but if you chose CH instead of DE youd still be the most powerful proffession. CHs are still gonna be able to run around with a combat droid. they will just have the extra creature taggin along. so here ive given you your next topic to whine about.
Sorry to sound like a jackass im just stressed out.
I'd have to say you can't use the whole money thing as an excuse, you not making money is no fault of the profession, because there's plenty money to be made in it. I know quite a few other DE's (myself included) that have a couple million laying around (pretty sure about the rest but I know mine is purely from droids). DON'T BLAME THE PROFESSION FOR YOUR LACK OF 1. Business skills, 2. People skills, 3. Creativity (it dose take a decent amount of this), or 4. Determination. I just don't see how you can't make money at this profession. Using the niftly little stats they gave us, 36.47% of the game population might as well require a droid (and most of them will end up buying more than 1 just for a change of taste), 34.84% of the population will make their life a whole lot easier with one, and 100% of the population can benefit in at least 2 other ways from one. This is an awful lot more than the .91% of the population that is a droid engineer.
