Thread: State of the Profession or Official DE Plan
OK. Now I am confused again...
TH said...
1. I need to know if you agree or disagree with Sintrosi's Plan
2. I need to know if you agree or disagree with the rough DE plan in general
What is the difference between 1 and 2? I thought that 2 meant the plan that Sintrosi posted for TH a week ago and that 1meant Sintrosi's "State of the Profession" post.
He also asked what changes we would make to the DE plan. I would refer him to

Geez. People have been suggesting nothing but changes to the DE plan since it was posted. There are a few hundred changes tacked right on as replies to that initial post.
Ok now I am confused as well. You have most people thinking number 1 means "State of the profession" like I do, and some not.
I actually do not have a "plan" posted. The only plan I posted was the DE plan you talk about in step number 2.
Please repost the questions and be a little clearer. For sanitys sake ... ![]()
that plan?
it blows
End of story.
Sintrosi and others have pulled together thoughts, ideas, concerns and the like. I would suggest that you use his service one additional step to avoid this confusion and tennis match of ideas. Have Sintrosi make 2 lists which you look at.
List #1 : DE Plan : Alot have put work into what we would like, though some probably needs to be addressed from a balance issue. Let us handle the first part and you handle the second. Have Sintrosi make a 2 tier list of what we think the DE profession needs to be useful; the core of what we think it is to be DE that is mission. The first tier would be the highest core set of needs (identified modules, chassis needs, if we want cert/don't want cert). The second tier would be additional things which we find important but not core at this point. How Sintrosi comes to the final entries on the list is up to him; he is the correspondant. Let him work with the DEs since he has the focus and we will decide among us what is important based on all the ideas and lists pulled together so far. After his list is done 'aka: the "Sintrosi Droid Engineer Plan" then it is your turn to see if these fall in line with balance and you/he can discuss what alterations need to be done/what is not possible to do/what you consider too imbalancing. No need to ping back at us. Some may not like all the changes, but this annoying back and forth does jack for our procession. The key thing that you need to do after accepting a final list is to determine how to stage the incorporation of things so we DEs have some fresh content, given that some items will be longer term than others.
List #2 : Critical Bugs : Have Sintrosi make a list, ranked by importance, of the current bugs which would not be addressed by the new DE plan. These are the more immediate things which will still be an impact after the DE Plan is in place, so no concern about loss of invested work by a future change. Many are in the category of "really stupid, annoying, profession neutering since beta" bugs which are really stupid to still be hounding us (like the fact that most special chassis cannot do the key function that they were designed for, no way to fix white damage on bots). An ordered list would give a proper shopping list to the devs of stuff to fix. We have a great list formed which is quite informative.
Let Sintrosi wade thru the threads and gather the information. Let he and the DE community develope a list of where we think we should be. The first DE Plan shows the desire to help us advance, but also lacks a little depth which could cause it to flounder and a bit off the mark on what we DEs think the profession needs. This will help you just focus on the balance game and will, in a concise list, help you understand what we think the DE *really* is.
As a non-droid engineer, I would like to have the capability to do the following:
1. Have more than 1 droid out at a time. (So for instance, I could have my repair droid FIX my probot).
2. Be able to use the new combat droids.
3. Have droids be more than just portable crafting stations.
Other than that, I would like to point out that DE is a crafting profession, not a combat profession. The Devs shouldn't be making the DE class into a droid version of CH. The ability to construct droids has nothing to do with the ability to control them. Maybe give droid certs out as part of a combat support skill tree somewhere, or enforce a strictly 1 combat droid limit on droids. But right now, the system in place is kinda ridiculous, and this makes it more ridiculous.
Fix the bugs, make droids useful TO EVERYONE. Give the DE's a viable income stream. But don't do this.

here
DE is the only class with the brains enough to know how to build and opperate the machines they sell
lets say per chance that each "COMBAT" droid had a arm mounted data pad that needed programing to control the droid in each action... or to better use the tactics involved...
sorry only the Droid Engineer in this game has the knowledge to opperate something at its fullest in the starwars realm.. fact
combat droid in SWG time line with a FEW exceptions were really never desinged to think for themselves, they were designed to be controlled by a thinking sentient living being... ( psst a DE ) who in turn may have made a computor to assist him or her to do so...
A armor smith knows best how to use and wear armor, but it doesnt make choices, maby they need a 10% bouns when wearing their one made armor...
a weapon smith knows best how to dial and recalibrate their weapons , but they dont make choices.. maby they need a bonus when using one 10% sound good?
a chef, a doctot, ect ect, all know best when using what they make, perhaps they all need some bonus when using thier own stuff..
NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH instead
fix the DE broken issiues, fix what you are going to do with them, make new combat droids for everyone who has mastered a novice skill , then a new level of droids that anyone who has master a eliete skill can use..
CALL them CERTS... and then the MDE can use anything any other NON Dabbler can use our best droid can even be used by a master dancer..they mastered something after all..
does this logically make sence HELL NO, does SWG Pet wars make better sence.. ROFL NO
this is a viable solution that any and all can use..
personally I like laughing at dabblers... /eye, /eye, /eye rofl thats great mr F9..sorry tho you didnt master BH, no Droidikar for you.
