I have A MSE droid with a med module that I bought a few weeks ago. When I single-click i tin my data pad I can see the commands I can tell it, i.e. Group: group, Follow Me: follow, etc. Very nice.

Yesterday I bought an R4 unit and started programming it. I mistyped one of the commands and wanted to get it right. Programmed the same command again, but got "(droidname) ?" in an "emote bubble". Ok, I thought, and repeated the programming. Still no joy.

Later I found that the droid reacted to commands I thought it hadn't learned, so I opened up my data pad to see what commands it thought it knew and what words I should use. But there wasn't any command list in the droid description for the R4. The MSE droid still had them. What's up with this?

Ok, thanks. I like the command list but I can live without it. It'll be fixed sooner or later.

Gveedo is right. However, unless you want to rename your droid, try to teach it one word commands.

Like so...

/follow

/group

To rename your droid, you must teach it 4 commands using the name you want it to have, sepperating the name from the command with a space. Like so...

/Sprocket follow

/Sprocket group

etc...

Then youll get the bubble above the droid, saying "Sprocket?". From then on you just give it commands normaly. /follow /group etc.

It may be that the droid thought you were giving it a new name somewhere in there and so it said (droidname)? Or did you intend to rename it and Im just rambling on about nothing here?

cheers....

At first I was just trying to tech it the commands, but got it wrong, i.e. taught it "gropu" for group instead of "group". So I tried to re-tech with the correct spelling. That gave me the "(droidname) ?" bubble. Later on I renamed it (I really wich I could name droids with numbers, Ar-Four was such a pain to type, R4 is much better) and got the question marks then, too. But renaming is visible, so I never doubted that that part had worked.

Visible state feedback is one of the foundation pillars of UI design. The devs know this, but probably have more pressing problems to address. Projects don't have to be the size of SWG to be rough on the developers. I've been on much smaller development projects that have been pretty bad, work-load-wise, so I really sympathize with the devs situation right now.
