Well, technically I took delivery today. I placed the order about two weeks ago, and I've been working with my shipbuilder to get me just what I needed.
As a Master Droid Engineer, I was able to work a deal with Bevo, providing him with several crates of high-quality advanced droid brains. Since he needs these items for every multi-passenger interplanetary ship he makes, he was glad to get them.
My ship is a light frieghter, because I like the speed and maneuverability. I chose to max out engine and shield capacity, and sacrificed the navicomputer to do so. A team of R3 droids tied to the ship will serve perfectly well as an add-on navicomputer, and that's an easy choice for me. Besides, with the waypoint storage capacity of the R3s, and their speed in calculating jump points, I'll actually be better off this way.
I decided to take "The Spirit of Kashyyyk" out for it's maiden run, so I instructed my team of binary load lifters to transport a bunch of goods from my house to the ship. I figure if I'm going to run, I might as well profit by it. While I was waiting for them to get done, I built a custom IG bodyguard for the new mayor. I chuckled as I added the blaster power cores, knowing this thing would be a heck of a surprise for the next would-be assassin.
I got a message that my ship had been loaded, and headed into Coronet. I spoke with the ticket collector, and he had my ship brought out. I got on board, and took off, establishing orbit. The ship handled beautifully, and the navigation R3s were responsive and natural to work with. I instructed them to calculate a route to Naboo, and they were done before I knew it. I saved the route in R3-S1's memory, and began the real-space run out of the system.
Before I had made it very far, R3-S2 beeped to inform me that there was a system failure! Some circuitry had broken down, and I had to have an LE repair droid take care of it before I could continue. Fortunately, I had one with me, so I didn't need to limp back to Corellia (How embarassing!). It was a simple problem with the hyperdrive shunt, and LERCH was easily able to fix it in short order.... I almost felt ashamed of all the times I had charged others for what was, after all, such a simple job... Almost, but not quite!
Before long I was on my way again, and after running up to speed I made the jump to hyperspace. The rest of the trip went without incident, and I piloted into Fehville spaceport's Automated Landing System and let the ship come in for a nice soft landing.
The maintenance droids converged on the ship, as they always do on new arrivals, and I contracted for the local cargo handlers to unload some of my cargo. My own BLLs are tied to my house, and it is a bit of a pain to bring them along, so it's worth the handling fee. Besides, I had MADE those cargo handlers (as well as the maintenance droids, the architect who built this spaceport is an old friend), I couldn't begrudge them the work.
A trip to the cage showed that all the inventory I expected was there, so I dropped some of my inventory items in the cage, picked up a bunch of droid deeds and ran them to the mall to put them up for sale. The best-selling items, as always, are the low-end and mid-range combat droids that everyone and his brother seems to want, but quite a few medical, cargo-handling, repair, and vehicle-maintenance droids sell every week, too. A FEW people buy destroyers (droideka), but they're honestly a bit overpriced for the capability they bring, especially since their most advanced systems are only usable by masters of the appropriate profession.
I headed back to the ship, picked up my inventory items, and headed back to Corellia, this time being able to head straight out without calculating the route again, R3-S1 fed the inverse route data to R3-S2 and I was on my way. Back at Coronet (where the Spirit is registered), I looked proudly at my ship, still steaming with the cold of space... And I went home to rest, a good day's work done.
