I recently purchased an R2 droid. The first time i took it out he was a normal looking R2 droid. Just like R2-D2, but yellow. I thought, cool i like it., so i store him. Now every time i take him out it says "Droid's customization has worn off" Or something along those lines. Also, the color of the droid is completley off. Either all orange, purple, yellow, aqua....or other colors. What happened to my droid! Is there a way i can get him to stay one color? Anyone else have this problem?Thanks in advance =)

Find a Droid Engineer to 'customize' your droid. You can select the colors you want for frame and trim, tell the DE, and he/she can do it for a small fee. The color should last through 20 call/store cycles, when it will need to be reapplied.

Known issue, Inky. Colors applied during crafting are usually not sticky. If you don't have your droid customized (by a DE using a Droid Customization Kit), its colors will be random every time you call it. Some of my customers actually like it that way. Most don't. I've begun offering customization when the owner first tames the droid.

The way it's intended to work, the droid's paint job will fade a bit every time you call it, and after 20 calls, it will fade away completely and you'll have to have the paint job redone. It's supposed to be a way of giving DEs repeat business. But when a droid has never been customized, and it's in that random-color-on-call state, you'll frequently see that message spuriously. It doesn't mean anything in this case.

The good news for droid buyers is that, in my experience, a droid's first customization becomes effectively permanent, unless you choose to paint over it. New droids I've customized right after taming do not have a customization lifespan line in their datapad displays, and do not produce the "fade" messages when you call them.

To further expand on Rho's comments (which are completely accurate, mind you), know that this refers only to the droid's paint job. This message has absolutely ZERO impact on the droid's functionality or programming or performance. This is strictly an asthetics (visual)issue only.

Sorry if this question was asked before, im at work so i didn't have time to look through all the threads. I didn't think it had any effect on the way the droid functioned, which is good. Definatley could use a paint job though It's totally understandable that after 20 calls you must have it re-customized. Gives all the DE's business. Thanks for the info!

Furthermore, on many R-series droids you cannot fix the color. It will always be randomly generated no matter how many times you have a Droid Engineer paint your droid for you.

Any R-series droid crafted before the patch, or even crafted with parts that were created before the patch, is permanently bugged and will always be a random color every time it is called. Some people like this behavior so I've taken to calling these R-series droids "Rainbow Droids".

(I have a limited supply of pre-patch parts left with which to make Rainbow Droids.)

It seems that droids made after the "customization" patch do retain the color given at creation, or when customized after taming.

However, any droid made pre-patch will not hold the customization, and return to default colors after being stored and called once.
