Thread: Mutiple Crafting Stations and Quality

Ok...I'm a crafter that decided to look into getting a droid with a crafting station. I read the FAQ stickied at the top. I have 2 questions.

1) Is the problem with multiple crafting stations in a droid fixed? I would like an R3 (or whatever, I don't care) with one of each crafting station.

2) When building crafting stations you should experiment on them to increase the quality of them. How does this work on the droids. For example, I commonly craft on stations with 13+ quality. Can I get droids with crafting stations that are comparible or is there no quality on the crafting station modules?

To answer your questions from my understandings:

1) No, this is not fixed. Only one crafting station module per droid can ever be active.

2) That I can tell, the scale of measure for private crafting stations (PCS) and the scale of measure for droid crafting station modules (CSM) is not the same. I have seen PCSs in the low to mid 40s so far. The best CSM I have ever seen was a quality of 4, and I can product quality 3 myself using high conductivity and overall quality resources.

I have a feeling that droid CSMs were never intended to compete with PCSs on a point-to-point quality basis. However I can assure you that quality and experimentation on CSMs is worth it and does have a net result effect for the crafter using the CSM. You are always better off using a stationary PCS than a droid with a similar CSM built into it.

While I cannot confirm the upper limit, I would have to presume that since CSM module qualitycan run as low as -10 (I've never seen anything below this), I would presume it can also run as high as +10, though I have never seen anything over 4 (and truth be told, I haven't seen a CSM with a quality of 4 since July).

Crafting stations on droids are hard to figure out due to the fact we have 2 numbers that seem to affect the overall quality of the station.

1st.There is a scale of -10 to 10 for all our items. 2nd. The overall quality when we experiment (very hard to get over 50% unless extremely high OQ materials are used due to our only getting 5 experimentation points)

As a rule, unless I can experiment a crafting station up to 2 on the scale of -10 to 10, i destroy it. This number can usually be achieved by hitting the 48% level on the other scale. Confused? Hehe so am I. To avoid any customer confusion, I list both numbers is the description of the droid when I put it on my vendor, or, if I am making it for a customer who is waiting for me, I tell them what the numbers are, and let them try to figure out what it means, because truthfully, Im not sure how to compare our numbers to those of a personal crafting station that architects make.

I don't think anyone has any solid results but the general feeling I've gotten from most of my customers is that it does better for them than a decent home model (level 15-20) but not as good as one of the really nice ones. Currently droid experimentation doesn't seem to be doing much of anything, there is a module rating on the station but that same rating is on every other droid part we make, so I doubt it has any special value (and for the record, I'm almost positive 10 isn't the max on that, as I've gotten 10 myself at only 80%).

I just made one last night. A structure crafting station with a quality of 4. It took good resources, several attempts, and one amazing success before I got there, but it is indeed possible. Oh, and I'm also a Master DE.

However, I must admit, this makes me feel a lot better. I thought I was doing something wrong since 4 was the highest I could get.

I've gotten 5's frequently on crafting stations thanks to some very high OQ inert that spawned, that max efficiency rating I've been able to get was 67%. I haven't done any tests vs a standalone station though.

There was a post herea while back that examined the difference. I tried finding it, but failed misserably... maybe someone else will have better luck.

Anyway, from what I can remember a few of the posters got over 40 people to test this droid crafting station vs private crafting station issue.

The results were that a droid crafting station SEEMED to work BETTER than any private crafting station. The comparrison in numbers was that 35-45 on a private station was about 3-4 on a droid station.

However, there is still a debate as to whether this number even has any effect in crafting. In my own experience, critical failures and sucess of experimentation didn't really change when using any level droid crafting stations and any level private statios... but being a DE, I don't often get the call to experiment my parts (since it has no real effect on the quality of the droid) so who knows
