Thread: Combat droid speculations (How strong will they be?)

Hi all.

Just read Just-G's post here about the new changes to the DE invasion.

Can't really say I am to happy and after reading the 4 pages of replies I know I am not alone.

But to get back on the reason of this post.

Combat droids will come in publish 7 (if nothing else changes) and these droids will only go up to CL10.

Now...

How strong do you belive these droids will be in HAM? The Probot now levels out at about 800-850 HAM. Will this be the equalant of CL10 combat droids, or will it be CL5 combat droids?

How much damage to you belive these will make? Will they be melee damage only or will we get an option to put in a range or a melee combat module in these new combat droids?

Do you belive the new combat droids will be nothing more then a new skin (As the new probot skin) of existing droids or actually new droids?

Personally I would love new chassis for the combat droids, rather then a new skin for existing droids. There are many droids out there, and even if I am not a huge fan of swg (never read a swg book, but seen all the movies) I dont recall seing any other R-series then the R2.

I dont like to make comparisons to SWG and the SW-Movies, but the R-Series in general comes from R2-R5 meaning 4 different R-series skins.

many wants the Droidekas to be put in the game as playable droids. And I am one of them. But it also strike me that SOE can add most of any kind of droid into SWG that doens't look like one from the movies.

Also I wonder... why can't we make a chassi of the R5 droids? I have a display of most chassis in my workshop (Not the BLL as it is to costly to make just for a model that none will want or have any function) The same goes with the Power droid? Why no Chassi for them?

I understand that chassis wasn't meant to be used as floor models for prosecting costumers, but thats what they are. The playerbase have taken something that SOE (probablly) didnt think about and found another use for it.

This last part is a minor issue really. First the exploits, bugs and desirablitly for droids needs to be fixed.

I find it **edit** hard to sell droids as they dont really offer any function. I got a few customers that returns for a new probot every now and then, and I also got an order for the new BLL from pub 6.

What I would suggest for the BLL is this.

Add a new module. Call it BLL storage module. Make it be able to hold 50 units of items.

To the new BLL module slot. make it so it only accepts the BLL storage module.

SOE get their wish by only adding one module to a load lifter, DE's get a droid worth making, and everyone else gets a storage compartment that is **edit** hard to miss when it is out and about. It is a win/win situation.

I doubt it would be hard to make that BLL module. To me it sounds like a copy of any of the storage modules datatext is needed, a renaming of that text to ID it as a BLL storage module and then the new module slot for the BLL will be given the ID to only accept that BLL module.

I am no programmer but to me it dont sound like a big problem. I would belive that is what have been done to the storage 1-6, data storage 1-6, medical module 1-6, armor module 1-6 in the modules, plus some addition to the resources needed to make them

Hell, make the BLL storage modules range from 1-5, where each module increase by 10 storage units compared to the previous one

My understanding, which may be quite flawed, is that the probots (at least up until the December patch) were an actual CL of 6, despite what your datapad might have told you. Take that for what it is worth (not much).
