"I agree. The idea of Droid certifciations was very popular. Certs arent enough to balance out the really powerful combat droids, but Im thinking we might be able to get some interesting functionality by giving profession certs to utility droids. I've raised that possibility and we might be able to do that."

This is good news. I hope for the sake of the community that this all isnt just hot air. The idea of certs still being used for high end medical droids, smugglers, etc leaves a lot of room for some reallyvaluabledroids in the game (and something for us to sell).

Yay!
Although TH is being vague as usual, and we all now know that dev comments are only valued as speculation when it comes to us, this very well could happen, and that would be GREAT!

when they say they *are* going to do something by such and such time and it never happens, how much credibility do you give them saying they *might* do something.....

Point taken.

Given all that we know now, do you still think we are going to get that DE only bodyguard/defense droid?

The price we pay for opposing Droid Commander profession may very well be not seeing powerful combat droids for another 6 or 8 months.

i actually don't think so. I doubt that they'd even coded any of the "droid commander" profession before the community protested against it.

TH did tell us that combat droids were being delayed because of our protest, but JustG told us later that it was all delayed because Lucas explicitly requested that they do the crackdown first. which tells us that TH was blowing smoke in our face when he said we caused the combat droids to be delayed.

Why should anyone need a cert for a utility droid? If your droid has a med module and you have no med skill then you're not certified to take advantage of the med module. Same goes with any current or proposed utility module. Certs were supposed to be a way to keep total newbs from having powerful combat ability, a'la creature pets. Are they going to make Med6 modules useable by Master Medic+ now? Maybe they're going to make Droid Crafting Modules useable only by Novice Elite Crafters now.

What set of bozos was crying out for certs on UTILITY droids and modules!?! Unless TH is talking about new high end modules and droids with some pretty amazing abilities and not about the current crop of modules and chasis, this is totally wrong.

Following the topic, it was to allow extraordinary skills for a skillset. IE: a medical droid that CAN heal, only available to doctors (sure they need it the least, but I have no DOUBT that they would buy it).
