In the update notes: Item Storage Module 2's now really are that, instead of becoming data storage module 2's during the crafting process.
Does this mean that DEs are now able to make droids with storage capacity in excess of 10 items? If so, what is the new limit?

Just 10 Sorry. I wish adding more storage modules gave me more storage space.

Yes, everyone is right - no matter what the rating on the droid is (two level 4's say it's got a rating of 14) the maximum is always 10.
The update note was simply that when you crafted an item storage module 2 it came out a data storage module.
That is, I believe - since I haven't made a level 2 storage module...ever (item storage didn't even work when I was at that level of DE), I'm not postive.

The sad part is that it took them this long to fix it. What you ended up with was a module that said it was a data 2 module, but was in fact still a storage 2 module. It was just a text bug and it's been around for months.

I also have a question about item storage: is it possible to put only items storage modules on a droid ? Like putting 6 item storage on an Adv R3 to make it carry 60 items.

The maximum capacity any droid can hold is ten, even if you were to fill an R3 with six level 6 storage modules.
Two level 4s are all that is needed for ten item storage.
