lol...well let's see if we can help you create "super DE".
A human character will allow you +15 artisan experimentation, so you have the potential to be a 14 point artisan to compliment your DE status.
There are a few good templates for a DE. Two to consider off-hand is the Deathwatch Bunker Droid Engineer and the Self-Contained Droid Engineer.
* DWB DE: Master Artisan, Master Droid Engineer, Master of one other elite combat profession. This gives you survivability (a CL of 54) and makes it so you can open the DE door as well as craft.
* SC DE: Master Artisan, Master Droid Engineer, Master Merchant and/or an assortment of skills to allow you to create all the components you need (Novice Musician: Dual Wave Synthesizer, Architect 0-0-0-1: power core unit, Novice Armorsmith: armor segments).
The DWB template makes you a bit more popular with high-end players and lets you in on the combat action.

cant create the cretest DE, its already been done /wink. All my friends know me as the best DE eva. I do DWB quite alot without having mastered a combat profession im just a 1000 in pistoleer. Anyway though you will definately want master artisan either way you go like rasal sugested. This is my theory on "the best"... you are only the best if you make yourself the best.

Good luck and welcome to the (probably) most populated DE server there is. Just check out the list of active shops.
If you need any help in game just drop me a line, name's Kejid. If I can help you out I will.
Edit - helps if I can spell

And it's a good philosophy. You can be a good DWB DE as long as you know what you're doing.
DWB aside, I've found having mastered a combat profession opens up a lot of the game that would otherwise be unavailable to a low combat level character. And this ain't a slam on any pure crafter's low level toon, mind you. It's just personal preference.

Hello Fair Droid Engineering Board,
...So, I would like to discuss making the greatest Droid Engineer possible, including species talk, possible templates and leveling strategies, and some casual talk about resource collection.
First off, I will be playing along side my hopeful battle character on Bria. Yes this is a troubled server, but I must say I still have high hopes for us Brians (heh, Brian's server) so please play along.
Secondly, I am now being considered for a top tier guild on Bria, and although I am now only about to go through the evaluation peroid with these cool people, I am now possibly Not Alone.
Anyone care to help a fellow Droid Lover out?

I am planning on using my soon to be unlocked character slot to build this future character, so there really isn't a need to have combat to explore the galaxy, although from what I am hearing, there may be a reason to do this so I can get into the DWB. I must have missed it, but why would I want to go there? Special crafting station or something?

In the DWB, you need a Master Droid Engineer to open the door to the crafting room for the jetpack, a Master Artisan to craft said jetpack, and a Master Droid Engineer to craft a Mandalorian helmet.

Personally, as it relates to being a DE, I don't think being a 12-14 pt Master Artisan really has any effect. None of the artisan components have a effect on end quality. Although it's just a thought, as there are other Master Artisan related stuff to use those points on.

This ismy MDE template. He is a Human for the artisan exp bonus. Uses all 250pt's.
Master Droid Engineer +12pt
Master Architect +12pt
Master Artisan +14pt
Novice Armoursmith
Merchant 4-0-0-1
Crafting Mastery
This allowed me to be totally self sufficent in everyting for making a droid except 1 thing, Dual Wave Synthesiser's.
* Novice Armoursmith allows you to make the Battle Core units you need for droid amrour.
* Merchant 4-0-0-1 will allow you to program your Merchant Barker modules and will allow you to have 4 vendor with a +1250 item limit.
* Master Architect will complement your income and you will need some Architectto make Power Core Units for "Power Droids".Pre-cu they sold like hot cakes to everyone who wanted to charge up an AFK Doctor buffer who had a droid.
* Master Artisan is a good money maker. The foods that an Artisan can make (Blob Candy and Spiced Tea) are good sellers and with a Human and the +14 to Artisan exp you can make them very very good. Vehicles will alsways sell and you need it to make GP and Electronic modules. If you have spare lots always keep harvester going that way you can sell cheap 2-3cpu grind resources.
* Crafting Mastery, well someone once told me that DE was good way to become this so I did it. Just mined millions of steel and chemical to make Advance Droid Frame Units.
* DWB you can create the Jetpack, Helmet and Bracers.
Hope this helps

Ah yes the crafting mastery im slowly working on this... not really the "grind" type only during double xp
im sort of doign the "true" grind, this could help to make better componets probably not nessesary for the best template though. As for these self suficient DE with architect novice armorsmith etc. I dont really think its necessary seeing as is usually easy to find architects and armorsmiths who wil make you the components for cheap. At least on Naritus....

I have never heard of Crafting Mastery, can someone explain to me how that works? What you do to get it?
