Thread: Chassis or Basic droid in the Chassis slot?

I just happened to notice today that the hover text over a chassis slot in the schematic for an advanced model of a droid says that you can use a basic version of a droid to "upgrade" it, however all modules in the droid put into the schematic are erased....so basically you can take a basic model R3 and then make an Advanced R3, use the basic model as a droid chassis, which wipes the modules out and the new ones in the schematic apply.
Has this always been the case? I didn't realize it before and I'd never tried it (seems the situations you'd use this would be few and far between).
Also, if anyone's done this much, does this work with droids in a datapad, or only in deed form still? Just curious.

i think it works, but not from deeds. And i think they require the same amount of resouces.

Back when I was a DE, I tried this with a basic R2 unit once and couldnt get it to work.
