Thread: Identical Factory Parts Problem

I'm wondering if this is a known issue or if I'm just bugged... but i know it's bugging me

It seems my equipment factory will produce simple components just fine, but will not produce ANY complex items such as "Micro Sensor Suites" (required often) or "Advanced Droid Brains" (required to be identical for R3 units). I've been wrestling with this issue and seeking guidance from anyone i can find an no one knows why this won't work for me...

Example:

  1. I mass produce crates of EGP Modules and EMM Modules

  2. I use the EGPs and EMMs in a schematic for "Advanced Droid Brain" (required identical for R3s)

  3. I place the remaining contents of the crates back in the input hopper

  4. I drop in the raw resources requested by the schematic

  5. (schematic is of course in the schematic slot)

  6. Start production

  7. ... .... .../wait

  8. Production stops, but says zero items were produced (and random resources or subcomponents have been consumed)

  9. ... ... ... /think

  10. ... ... ... ask around

  11. Try removing the "sub-components" from the crates

  12. Restart production

  13. ... ... ... /wait

  14. Production stops, but says zero items were produced (and random resources or subcomponents have been consumed)

  15. ... ... ... /ponder

  16. /bug report

  17. Post to this forum (First time this step was added)

  18. wait a week...

  19. See step 1... ... ...

Please keep in mind, this 20 step process has been repeating for me for weeks and while I don't horribly mind having to craft Micro Sensor Suites by hand (unpleasant as it be...) there's really no way to bipass the two identical "Advanced Droid Brains" required to build an R3 unit.

Any info that may help me out here aside from "why don't you buy them from someone who's not an idiot" would be GREATLY appreciated... by this point I'm convinced either my factory is bugged, or the process is buggy.

Thank you for your help/advice,

Frizben of Chilastra

P.S: anyone know if you're able to change this forum name yet... I created it when i applied to join the BETA but I never used or wanted this name

Factorycrates are /bugged.

You need to remove the chips one by one into your inventory and then transfer then to the input hopper by hand, one by one.

It takes me 20 minutes to load, unload, reload, and start the factory to make 12 lousy brains (since the hopper has a limit of 100 items, and each of the parts you have to load in (8 per droid brain) count as one each.

It's a HUGE pain in the behind.

Additionally, if after doing what AO said above you still get the problem with it stopping at 0 produced, then your factory is bugged. Try re-deeding it, and placing it again. If still having the problem, re-deed it, wait til server reset, place it again.

I had the same problem when I made ADBs yesterday, having taken the sub-components out of their crates. Redeeding, as Jonas suggested, fixed it for me. I still only ended up with a crate of 15 ADBs though, instead of 24, because when I went to put in the last lot of sub-components (you can't put in all 200 at once, obviously...) it was just after the morning maintenance, and though the parts disappeared from their crates, they never turned up in my inventory

All in all, I'm grateful that I managed to get any ADBs at all.

There are 2 things I've always done when using a factory. It was suggested back in beta and seems to have increased my success rates when using factories.

First, always put ingrediants in the hopper in the order that is listed. (There is a show ingrediant option for the current schematic).

When making advanced components there are 2 ways. If you have 1 crate of a component (e.g. GP module) remove them from the crate. If you have multiple crates of the same piece (e.g. GP module) leave them in the crates.

No guarantees that either of these suggestions do anything for you... They just seem to make my life easier.

I re-deed after every run. No need to wait for factory reset. A couple of times when I tried to re-lay my factory, it only showed red ground, and I had to wait 20 minutes or so before it let me build it.

Doing this, I have no problem with simple schematics. However, when I try to make things that require a crafted component, like a GP Module or Control Unit, the factory will eat some of the ingredients. Bah!
