Many people have stated that they are having issues with making the Guard command work properly. Well, it would appear that the command does work 100% of the time, if set up under the correct conditions. Here is what you need to do....
- Call your droid (Obviously the first action)
- Command your droid to follow, yourself or someone else.
- Have the toon that you want to be protected attack anything, that will try to hit back.
- Target the toon and issue the Guard Command.
This will give you a friend for life, that will Guard your toon, until the droid/pet drops dead.
The key to unlocking the Guard command is that the target needs to be engaged in combat before the droid will initiate the Guard function.

Yeah its a cool feature .. when I send my Level 1s to any of the easy planets (Tatooine, Corellia, Naboo) I get to a safe area a short distance from where I need to go (where my harvesters are) and pull out my droid and tell it to guard me. It will then follow me and attack anything that tries to attack me. At one point I didn't even notice that a critter was attacking me until it dropped dead at my feet.

im not even sure you have to have attacked something first, just target the person you want guarded and do the guard command. The droid will attack anything that attacks you.

Hmmm perhaps I wasn't targetting myself when testing. We didn't need to do that before. Good info.

This is what I have had to do, in order to get my pets/droid to Guard every single time.
The way that the Guard command has been working is that if you target and issue the command, the pet/droid would only Guard approximately 50% of the time.
You also need to make sure that when the command is issued, that the target is within 25 meters of the pet/droid.

Well I've never needed to guard anyone else as most of the time I play by myself. But I've never needed to target myself for it to work .. not that I'm aware of anyway. Maybe the few times it kicked in (as in I was attacked and it defended me) was when I had selected myself as focus. But usually I have the droid selected when I do those sort of commands or a creature I have checked to see how far away it is. But the droid has always been close by me so again I have no idea on distance. I /bow to Drashk's testing prowess. Sounds like you have well and truly earned Master Tester badge Drashk. I guess the rest of us will have to /respec to it at some point.

I would love to see the "rescue" command layered onto the droid guard command. This way it woudl be able to prevent some of the damage from reaching us.... and might reuslt in fewer insta-incaps.
