Thread: Droid Engineer Summit meeting Sunday!
Alright, here's the official post (and if someonecan sticky it that would be great):
The first Inter-Server Droid Engineer meeting is to take place this Sunday on server Ahazi. The time is 8 p.m. EST / 5 PST and the place isthe hotel onVreni Island, Corellia. Any and all who are coming from outside servers please just create a temporary character and email 'Woodrow' in-game.
For those of you unaware of what is happening, we DEs on Ahazi have banded together and regularly hold meetings concerning the Droid Engineer profession. This meeting we have opened up the doors and are inviting Droid Engineers from All Servers to attend and meet your fellow Engineer face-to-face.
The agenda for this meeting (though subject to last minute change) is as follows:
1) General introductions: I will be introducing several members on Ahazi server who have been most helpful in organising and maintaining our Association and contributing to the DEnet. Later in the discussion we'll talk about the DEnet and the Droid Engineer Association and the successes we've had with it.
2) General Q and A session: At every meeting we hold a general Q and A session to help Droid Engineers along if they have questions aboutthe profession.Due to the possible increase in attendants, all questions are to be Emailed to Woodrow on Ahazi and I'll recite them. following each question there'll be 5 minutes to answer before I'll cut them short and we'll move to the next question.
3) DEnet and DEA success: I'llbe discussing the things that have been accomplished so far on server Ahazi since the forming of the Droid Engineer association (as well as tips on how to set about creating similar associations on other servers if anyone is interested).
4) Possible DE influx to the Test Centre server: This was brought up in another post here on the boards, and I'll be taking opinions on whether we should look into getting a bunch of Droid Engineers on Test Centre.
5) Future of the Droid Engineer: I'll be giving a quick speech regarding where I feel the Droid Engineer profession will be going in the next few months.
6) Closing: Any lingering matters from earlier discussion will be tossed up in an open ended discussion.
Due to the possibility of a large number of people, I will have to ask that some sense of order be maintained and that when the official speaker (most likely myself, though taking volunteers)asks for quiet to move on to the next subject matter (or when people are giving speeches) that the chat remain at a minimum.
As said before, the agenda is not finalized, and possible last-minute updatescan be made. If you would like to give a quick speech then please outline what you wish to say in an in-game email to Woodrow on server Ahazi, and we'll work to include it. Be sure to make clear that it's a seperate speech, and not something to be added to the Q and A session at the beginning.
There has been discussion about possible lag issues. However, I feel that with proper discipline (no droids out till the end, no large amounts of needless action /chatter) any and all Lag can be overcome. Also, the location has been chosen as it is relatively deserted of people and therefore won't pose much of a problem of extraneous people/pets. In the end though It is all a judgement call that needs to be made at the time, as we can't predict how everything will affect the client until we see it. I have confidence though, and everything will go ahead as planned.
Lastly, This thread is merely an announcement. I ask that it not be a place for discussion / criticism / complaint (only for topic additions and agreement). These boards are getting far too negative for my tastes, so please: If you need to criticise the various topics here (constructively or otherwise), either take them to other posts as we have those in abundance or send me an in-game email and make corrections as necessary.
