I've come to the realization that just selling resources is far more profitable than being a DE.

I take the 75k-100k units of various resources I can bring in a day (with just a few exts), and sell them for 3cpu and by FAR outperform my average daily vendor sales of 80k/day (tracked for a couple weeks - vendor is always stocked with probots, surgs, crates of seekers, arakyds, batteries, and more, vendor is situated in a well stocked mall, marked on planetary map always, always place "ads" on market with shop info, etc etc).

So anyway, i can just drop all the making gp modules, mem modules in factories for BH seekers, and simply sell stacks of 100k resources or whatever I pull a day out of my extractors. So tempting.

Well, hrmmm...

You have to work DE a lot more than resource sales... but you can get fairly rich doing it.

There is a lot more networking, etc, involved. Customer service is a big plus. But if you get a good rep, well, the sky is the limit

The Droid Owner's Manual that is in my sig is a consequence of explaining droids to a bazillion peeps. I first posted it on my guild's boards, then on my cities, and now here. But that is a big thing - talk to your customers.

I am not as rich as most of the WS and AS I know - but I make enough to support a guild hall and dump a few hundred K a week into our player city. It can be done

I've been considering setting up a resource vendor, too. The half a million credits I made from selling 50k of fiberplast is what enabled me to get some nice harvesters and actually be able to set up a droid vendor without worrying about maintenance. I almost feel guilty using 994 OQ aluminum to make droids.

One thing that I do - run vendors for others.

For example, I sell armor for a very prominent AS (Le'Roy) on my server. I could get a few more merchant boxes, and really expand that method... there is potential for a lot of money in that too.

Having a good tent, and even better, a row of tents, is a great way to get business.

I busted my ass from the begining (6/27/03)to get to 3 milllion with driod sales from running fed-ex missions to spending all my time in the cloning center because of camped harvestors. I started getting a decent rep and didnt even have to have a vendor or spam starports after awhile i became burnt out. Then one day I get a tell from someone asking if im selling 100k of some fiber i have laying around I say sure why not and the person said I will give you a million for it.

From that day on I threw a few driods on my vendor and switched to resources and now because of the holo grind im off trying new things without worrying about driods that are broke. I think I held out for so long because we kept being giving promises of driods being fixed I remember this promise in Aug lol.

Maybe someday I ll go back, but I love being able to do what ever i want with my skill points and having enough money saved upto not worry about it. I would like to go back to DE someday because I did enjoy crafting and after all I thought it was what Star Wars wassupposed to beabout.

You can sell resources for up to 500 cpu if they are good enough.

Just hunt down the good resources that armor smiths and weapon smiths use. Find out the qualities they need, and harvest away.

Welcome to the club.

I've made most of my profit by selling resources and power. Droid Engineer might account for as much as 1 million in the bank, but I have over 13 million at this point and it's climbing steadily by 500-750k per week. And it's climbing due to resource and power sales, not droid sales.

Don't get me wrong, my Droid sales are sufficient to keep me in the black, but just barely. Granted, I'm maintaining a LOT of buildings right now (many for friends who no longer play), so my maintenance is higher than most people's. But I'm not pulling down a whole lot of mass profit from Droid Engineer.

With just a little bit of spamvertising on your local Trade Forums, you can easily sell just about any resource for 10 CPU. With a decent location, 3 CPU will clear out daily and you won't be able to keep up.

Don't forget that Master Artisan is for more than just components. Vehicles and high quality crafting tools are good sellers.
