Thread: Why is it that the most Vocal get things changed there way

Since most players don't post and some don't even know about the boards how can anyone here say they speak for most people and that professions like DE are getting changed towards what the most vocal want.

Another thing i don't understand is that the DEV's are able to put ingame emails for things like ACT 3 and the ones before so why can they not put an email in the game to say we are wanting to make some changes to these professions and if you wish to have to say and put in ideas please visit this forum, it seems like a simple and fair way to let everyone know what is going on.

For myself i have always hope that combat droids would be placed in the DE profession but that's what i would like, i have seen polls that have stated in numbers that most DE don't want to DH profession.

Which by the looks isn't going to happen now but i'ld like to see a real poll with most people having a say andto be honest at least this way i could say well if that's want most DE want then i can live with it.

Instead oftha samepeople coming on these boards and say this is what most DE want is to be pure crafting profession and thinking they have a right to tell us what we want.

I can't see that it would cost the DEV's anything to send an email inviting people to have alook at the boards and having a say where there galaxies is going.

Iunderstand there need to be balance for combat but if they made DE the only ones that could use these high lvl combat droids it would make things alot simpler, and i don't think DE has to be a clone of CH i mean you could lower the lvl combat droid down to 50 as the highest.

I also want more utility for droids than i want combat droids i'ld like to see people running around with droids they can use to add to the feel of star wars and allow DE to have at least 2 droids out when master DE

"Why is it that the most Vocal get things changed their way?"

Fact of life.

Personally, I'd just like the devs to get on and do something with DE and stop paying so much attention to the egotists with unworkable ideas.

This is like asking, "Why don't the people who don't vote get a say in what happens?"

And herein lies the problem. Combat capabilities and crafting capabilities are both levels of balance in the game. These cannot be taken into account independent of eachother, they must always be considered at the same time. Look at any of the marksman or unarmed professions, they've got strong combat capabilities but no crafting capabilities. Medics/doctors have, not quite combat capabilities but reasonable combat support capabilities, and little in the way of crafting capabilities (they can make things for themselves but their market is limited). Smugglers are a combination, they have some combat capabilities and some crafting capabilities, but not a great deal of either one. If you give DE's reasonable combat capabilities (you listed CL50 pets, which would put you pretty close to the level of mid-high level elite combat profession) as well as more crafting and utility capabilities, you are destroying whatever balance there is. We get one or the other, not both.

Dont you mean in this case the MAJORITY. And why dont those others come post? Dont know about it? You realize the websight is listed right on the game case they bought. Could it be just maybe they dont care or dont want to waster there precious time?

Are these the same people who dont vote but want to gripe about who won the election?

It may not represent the whole, but it darn sure represents the ones that care enough to do somthing about it.

I'd say onlythe most vocal, community minded people ever come here to post, or care that there is a forum. Most players will keep on playing the game, regardless of what changes come into or out of the game. If the game becomes too easy, they quit. If it becomes too hard, they grumble to their friends and quit. If fun is being had, they continue to play the gameregardless of whateverchanges enter into it. Everyone has an opinion on things of course, but many just express it and keep right on playing regardless. I'd say only a few percent of the player base ever become long term posters here, with their own pet issues to debate over.

I'm fairlydissapointed that there won't be combat droids coming into the game in the way i'd like them too. I'd prefer to have a Droid Commander profession to acquire them through, rather then some cert process. But what can ya do, the DE community has spoken out loudly enough against it to be effective. From TH's posts the seperate profession idea seems largely dead, and combat droids are effectively on hold. But you can say that, in some sense this is democracy in action. The majority have won over the minority. It's unfortunate that droids aren't actually for everyone, only for those who's viewpoint wins.

"Why is it that the most Vocal get things changed there (sic) way"

Well, this seems to be a case of majority (if not majority, at least plurality) rules. Would you be more satisfied with the process if the minority option was chosen (note that I'm saying "with the process" and not "with the results")?

Personally, I don't think that the vocality of the community had much effect on any decisions that are/were made. They have the art and programming ready, but I think they are realizing that they don't have enough content in the Droid Commander line to warrant an entireprofession, so they are back at the proverbial drawing board.
