I also thought that Droid Complexity increased how long the customization would last on the droid (number of fades before color is gone). My theory is that the DC skill + the tool value = number of fades.
I've seen negative (-XX) droid complexity tapes. Maybe it's the negative ones that are desireable?
Or maybe you need 10 droid complexity points to actually move the complexity by 1 point, like the experimentation tapes?

Complexity tapes aren't working at all ATM, for any profession. They lower the complexity of each and every schematic of that profession type, when they work.
In what way? Theory 1 or Theory 2 above?

Theory #1: Droid Complexity increases access to schematics with lower "level" tools and crafting stations by lowering the complexity of the items being created. In other words, if you have +3 Droid Complexity you should be able to make a complexity 18 item with a generic crafting tool instead of just complexity 15 items.
Almost right. The Complexity tapes lower the inital complexity on all items. A component that is normally 18 will have a complexity of 15 in your example. So.... If you have a +10 Droid Complexity bonus, all of your schematics will be redueced in complexity by 10.
Droid Complexity Tape Experiment
Right now, complexity tapes are useless.

I tested that, Drashk, and it's not true. Sorry I wasn't specific about it.
The Level 4 Medical module showed up as complexity 20 at the start of both tests, whether I was wearing my +3 bonus or not.
