Well here is what droid engineer needs for thier combat droids. They need a combination of the Armorsmith and Weaponsmith Professions. This would be alot of fun, and I will show you what I mean.

FRAMES

--------------------

Frames will be subject to three categories. HAM, RESISTANCE, and ATTACK SPEED. Each of these categories would be heavily based on experimentation and resources, just like weapons and armor.

HAM - This would be experimented in durability. Unit Toughness & Overall quality in the resources would be what determines this area.

RESISTANCE - This would be experimented in Effectiveness. This would be determined by Shock Resistance, and Overall Qualityin the resources.

ATTACK SPEED/ATTACK DAMAGE - This would be experimented in Quality. This would be determined by Conductivity and Overall Quality in the resources.

As well there would be different combat frames with different attributes. Each frame would have a quality that performs better. This way each frame would be in demand as opposed to just one frame. As an example a Droideka frame could have a better range for Resistance, where as a Probot would have better range for durability. Each frame would also contribute to a droid handling points.

WEAPONS/ATTACK

---------------------------

Each frame would be allowed to hold certain types and amountsof attack modules. Each modules attack would be determined by the same 3 factors. Attack Damage, Attack Speed, and Battery Usage.

There would be every attack known aswell.

KINETIC
STUN
ELECTRIC
ENERGY

ACID
BLAST

HEAT

and what ever other type of attack I missed. There would be amodule for each type of attack. And each would require different types of resources. Rares and what not.

ATTACK DAMGE - This would be determined by experimenting in Effectivenss, and Overall Quality & Conductivity in the resources used.

ATTACK SPEED - This would be determined by experimenting in Quality, and Overall Quality & Mallebility in the resources would be used.

BATTERY USAGE - This would be determined by experimenting in Durability, and Overall Quality and Heat Resistance in the resources would be used.

There would be the ability to compete by making combat droids better than one another. There would be alot more interests in the combat droids. In the end this would make droids alot more fun.

Let me know what you think

This is all well and good, but at this time it seems that the more vocal DEs have "won" this round...

Combat droids were revealed by THyesterday to be around the CL 60 to CL 80 range, making them on par with a lot of the CH-level pets alreadyin the game. They've been postponed indefinitely due to the devs' inability to come up with a feasible way of implimenting them without one of the following situations arising:

A) making them available to everyone -- effectively killing the CH profession at its core, and allowing any noob with enough cash to get his/her hands on a droid that is equal to a creature pet that took a CH weeks or months of XP grinding to get access to.

B) using a "droid certification system"to allow access to combat droids -- this option has proven unpopular with many players, not just DEs, because the basic consensus is that it limits combat droids to a select few professions (i.e.: Bounty Hunter, Squad Leader, or other "hard core" combat profession) and limiting sales of combat droids to only those professions.

C) adding the proposed "Droid Commander" profession exclusively for combat droid use -- this is possibly the single-most controversial subject to hit the DE forums in SWG history. DC was originally conceived as a means to nullify the ongoing "Pure Crafter vs. Crafter/Combat Hybrid" argument going on in the DE community at large. But once it was revealed that the DC would be the only profession able to use combat droids, the new profession was flatly refused for several reasons. The first being that, again, sales of combat droids would be narrowed to a VERY select few; and second, players did not feel that spending 60+ skill points on a new profession for no other reason but to gain access to combat droids was worth the trouble. And third, more than a few DEs were absolutely insulted that, after nearly 8 months of promises of a "complete DE revamp", the devs decided to reduce their profession to nothing more than the droid version of Bio-Engineer and add a droid version of Creature Handler.

So there you have it...no combat droids anytime soon. Stay tuned for updates...

ok what you mentioned is fine... but it still has nothing to do with what I said. Also what I did say could be incorporated into the new droids.

What I am asking for is more variation in droids... based on experimentation and resources. Aswell as a huge varience in combat functionality. What I want is droids that can have different types of attack, as well as defence. There could be droids that are built just for tanking, or for pure offence. The offence could be varied aswell in the type attack brought forth.

They could still be CL 80 and CL 60. That does not matter, what would matter is what goes into the droids.

Think about it... wouldnt this be sooo much fun. There would be competition with droid engineers for making uber battle droids, recognition for excellent combat droids from other players. People could have droid on droid battles. The greatness of what this would bring is almost endless, and IMO would bring to the table what most DE want.

Recognition, Competition, and Most of all alot fo Fun
